Today was a custom designed and built body compartment with diamond plate door and paddle latch.
Sorry for the delay, it has been crazy busy as of late.
Here are a few of the latest projects:
Several custom aluminum diamond plate cabinets.
Several custom carts to help our customers gain efficiencies.
A large order of 110” long 12 Ga. lasered and formed parts that had a a .015” tolerance on the forming dimensions and more important needed to hold the 90 degree bends the full length of the part.
Lastly, a couple of Stainless Steel frame weldments requiring passivation and all heat marks removed.
1/2” grade 50 mounting brackets Lasered, Formed and Welded for an Essential/Critical truck.
It was a STAINLESS Saturday!
It’s been quite a while since I TIG welded stainless but it went pretty good.
As an update to the Covid-19 and the shutdown... because we are considered a Critical/Essential supplier because of our Military and Ag work we are open for business!
However, we have implemented several stop gaps/safe practices to protect not only our employees but our customers and our suppliers:
There will be no admittance to our facility!
We will load/unload outside only and will only do electronic transfer of pack slips etc.
You will probably also be greeted by the following Ensemble/Safety gear!
We had a busy week with several custom projects.
We built a custom work bench for rebuilding hydraulic tools with a stainless perforated sheet to allow the oil to run into a barrel.
Reinforced some aluminum race car brake ducts.
Built a custom bolt bin and wire rack cart.
How about we talk about something different for a few minutes in this crazy world!
Here is a 1/4” 304 Stainless Steel part that was run through our software (which takes about 30 seconds) to create the flat layout and the first part was within a total of .007” (that’s 7 thousandths of an inch).
This is why we love this machine and it’s ability to quickly and accurately make prototype parts and First Articles without going through the time consuming engineering process. (Which is always backed up)
It’s a busy week with a lot of aluminum parts. Simple formed parts but this machine is so quick and accurate!
We have some cool diamond plate tool boxes that we will be building this week and we will update pics as they process through laser, form and weld.
Follow up on the Magnesium Spool project... because we did not know the base material of the spool I was told the 61A filler rod I had would have a 10% chance of working but I could buy a different filler with a 90% chance of working BUT it was $400 minimum qty. (a new spool was only $450 so we were not going there!) attached are the pictures and it did NOT work. As I welded the part it was typical of a cast part, lots of impurities came out but as I welded i could hear the part crack. I did the inside beveled joint about 80% and as it cooled it cracked and fell off! Now we know!!
We were challenged by a customer to form up some 3/8 Brackets with a tolerance of +/- .015 on all dimensions and a +/- .3 degrees on 90s. Not just one piece...a production run of 30 pcs!! With our state of the art Diamond BH13530. We are proud to say challenge completed!
It has been quite busy in the shop these days!
Here is a unique project, customer brought in a broken aluminum Winch spool (or so he thought.... seemed really light to me so a couple of quick tests and it is actually Magnesium! We will be beveling this entire cracked area out and see if we can get lucky with a filler metal match.
Results to follow!
When a customer is looking to increase storage space and reduce the chance of damage you work with them to design custom racking brackets!
