HUNTERS! MASK UP WHEN HANDLING DEER CARCASSES
The Wisconsin Department of Health Services recommended that hunters wear masks when handling deer carcasses that may carry the coronavirus.
Two separate studies found that deer in Iowa and Ohio tested positive for the coronavirus that causes COVID-19 in people. There's no evidence that wildlife, including white-tailed deer, are a source of COVID-19 illness in people or that people can get infected by eating deer meat, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said.
"We still have much to learn about white-tailed deer and SARS-CoV-2 infection, including learning what risk, if any, an infected deer may pose to hunters. Current information is extremely limited."
State health services recommended the following practices when dressing deer.
• Don't harvest animals that look sick or are found dead.
• Keep the carcass and meat clean, and cool the meat as soon as possible after harvesting the animal.
• Wear rubber or disposable gloves, wear a mask and don't eat, drink or smoke when handling or cleaning a carcass.
• Wash hands thoroughly with soap and water after handling a carcass.
• Wash all knives, equipment and surfaces that were in contact with dead deer with soap and water, and use a disinfectant.
• Immunocompromised people should consider asking for help with carcass processing and handling.
Good Luck Hunting!

Do you have COVID-19 symptoms? Have you been in close contact with someone with COVID-19?
If your answer is “yes” to either of these questions, it’s time to get tested, even if you are fully vaccinated. There are many ways to get tested for COVID-19 in Wisconsin. First contact your doctor to ask if your primary health care clinic provides testing. If testing is not available, you can find a free community testing site near you, request a free at-home collection kit, or call 211 for options near you.

DHS Confirms Wisconsin COVID-19 Vaccine Providers Cannot Charge Anyone to Get the Vaccine
Yesterday, the Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) issued a public notice in which the agency said COVID-19 vaccine providers participating in the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) COVID-19 Vaccination Program may not sell or seek reimbursement for the COVID-19 vaccine or any related supplies and must administer the vaccine regardless of the recipient’s ability to pay.
While providers may seek appropriate reimbursement from a public benefit program or private insurance program or plan that covers COVID-19 vaccine administration fees, providers may not seek any reimbursement from the vaccine recipient. Providers may also seek reimbursement from the Health Resources and Services Administration’s (HRSA) COVID-19 Uninsured Program for the costs of administering COVID-19 vaccines to uninsured recipients, or from the HSRA Coverage Assistance Fund (CAF) for the costs of administering COVID-19 vaccines to recipients whose health insurance does not cover vaccine administration fees.
Noncompliance with the terms of the CDC Provider Agreement, such as by billing vaccine recipients for the COVID-19 vaccine or its administration, including co-pays, or denying an individual a vaccination because they are unable to pay any out-of-pocket costs, may result in the provider’s suspension or termination from the CDC COVID-19 Vaccination Program and potential criminal and civil penalties.
