Using an intraoral scan and CAD/CAM technology to 3D print the provisional, Sandhills Implant Lab allowed us to immediately place the tooth 1 hour post surgery.

Wisdom Teeth season is in full force 🤙🏼. Here are some helpful tips to avoid a dry socket:

FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS
Carefully follow all post-op instructions given by your oral surgeon.

AVOID STRAWS
DON’T use straws for at least a week. The suction can dislodge the blood clot that is essential for healing.

NO TO***CO USE
Smoking or chewing to***co can interfere with healing and increase the risk of dry sockets

GENTLE ORAL HYGIENE
Avoid brushing the extraction site and vigorously rinsing the mouth for 24 hrs. Gently use prescribed rinse as directed.

SOFT FOOD DIET
Stick to soft foods that require minimal chewing. Avoid crunchy, hard, and sticky foods.

REST & HYDRATION
Get plenty of rest and drink plenty of fluids! Avoid carbonated and alcoholic beverages.

April is oral cancer awareness month. Our Sandhills team is dedicated to raising awareness and providing specialized care for these conditions.

The American Cancer Society estimates about 58,450 new cases of oral cavity or oropharyngeal cancer for 2024, and about 12,230 deaths from oral cavity or oropharyngeal cancer.

Oral cancer, often undetected until it’s advanced, can be devastating. Regular dental check-ups, avoiding to***co and excessive alcohol consumption, and maintaining a healthy diet are crucial steps in prevention.

Early detection is key in the successful treatment of oral cancer. Your mouth is one of your body’s most important early warning systems. Don’t ignore suspicious lumps or sores. Here are signs to watch out for:

* A sore that bleeds easily or doesn’t heal
* Any color change of the oral tissue
* Pain, tenderness or numbness in the mouth or lips
* A lump, thickening, rough spot, crust or small eroded area
* Difficulty chewing, swallowing, speaking or moving the jaw or tongue
* A change in the way the teeth fit together

We begin advocating for you the moment you schedule your appointment. Medical and dental plan benefits vary greatly and our billing department is highly trained in understanding both medical and dental coverage - which makes it possible for us to generate a treatment estimate prior to surgery.

Working with insurance companies to get claims paid can take time and our billing department, as a courtesy to you, will file your medical and/or dental claims so that you don’t have to! Filing claims includes a great deal of follow up and we work diligently to ensure that claims are paid correctly.
