There has been some confusion regarding the wearing of masks. Therefore we want to clarify our intent. There are many things we can do as individuals and families to help stop the spread of COVID. Since we are all in different situations, it really is a family decision and we encourage you to prayerfully consider what is best for you and your family in protecting yourselves and others during this pandemic. We realize that their will be individuals and families that may chose not to wear masks, while others will chose to wear masks. Please be respectful of all members of our stake.

We express our love and concern for each of you and the safety and well-being of your families.

We love you and pray for you daily.

o For activities outside the valley, the “Event and Activity Plan” is required. It must be approved
first by the Bishop and then by the stake Presidency 7 days prior to the activity.
▪ Plan will need to include what safety measures are going to be followed.
▪ For activities needing transportation, a “Permission and Medical Release Form” is required with a note from the parents (guardian) giving permission for their child to ride with someone outside of their family. Or, the family will need to provide transportation.

Our prayer is that we will be unified as a stake and meet the needs of all our brothers and sisters. It is our hope that we will increase our Christlike love for each other as we navigate this unprecedented time in history.

We are a family and need to support each other. If we follow the Savior’s two great commandments of “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart” and “Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself”, we all will be blessed with spiritual protection, growth, and more importantly the Spirit of the Lord in our hearts and homes.

With Love,
The Stake Presidency

Covid-19 and Returning to Church Classes and Activities

Dear Beloved Brothers and Sisters of the Kearns Western Hills Stake,

As a Stake Presidency we send our love and gratitude to you all for your faith and faithfulness during the past 14 months of Covid restrictions that have affected all of our lives. We are grateful for the ministering that we have seen shared among so many members of our wards and neighborhood. As a stake we have been significantly blessed by the Lord during this difficult time.

In a statement sent from the Utah Area Presidency, the following direction was given: “In counsel with senior Church leaders, we now ask stake presidents, in consultation with bishops and others, to
develop plans and take responsibility for how members in their stakes return to in-person church meetings and activities for all organizations.” Working with the bishoprics and stake leaders, and with much discussion and prayer, we have taken a cautious route to returning to church meetings and activities. We are aware of other areas where they have moved more quickly than we have, however
we have felt the need to begin more slowly in our stake.

With this in mind, we are planning to cautiously increase our opportunities for in-person meetings and activities. Beginning Sunday June 13th, 2021, second hour Sunday classes, including the Primary “Singing and Sharing Time” will begin. Each ward council, under the direction of the Bishop, is to plan how and where they will hold these meetings and classes. Please remember that all of these meetings should be held using an abundance of care for all members and their individual health concerns. We
recommend that masks be used and that physical distancing is practiced.

The first hour worship service and now all second hour meetings should continue to be shared virtually for those who are at home and are wishing to continue to participate in the quorum and class
discussions.

We ask that all who are able to please help clean and wipe down all areas used for classes, so the building is left ready for the next ward’s use. Please do not congregate in the foyers and hallways, but instead depart promptly so the following ward can arrive and prepare for their worship services.

In consultation with your Bishop and organization leaders, starting the week of June 13th, all regular organizational activities can be held in-person, except for full ward and large stake level in-person
activities. We must continue to follow all health guidelines for those who meet in-person, and all activities are still to be limited to 25 individuals. When possible, please continue to provide the option
to participate virtually in activities. At present, family gatherings are not allowed at church facilities.

Additionally, starting June 13th, we will return to conducting Temple Recommend Interviews in person, as well as continuing the option for virtual interviews for those not comfortable meeting in person. Please check the stake calendar for dates and times. We will continue to monitor and council together with the hope that these limitations will be loosened as the health conditions improve.

Our prayer is that we can be unified as a stake and meet the needs of all of our brothers and sisters. We plead that we can all increase our Christlike love for each other as we navigate this unprecedented time in history. We are a family and need to support and care for each other. If we follow the Savior’s two great commandments of “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart” and “Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself”, we all will be blessed with spiritual protection, growth, and more importantly
the Spirit of the Lord in our hearts and homes.

With Love,
