The wood you choose must match the amount of traffic in your house. If your house is modern and receives less foot traffic, light wood flooring may be the better choice for your home. If your house is more traditional and receives more heavy foot traffic, choosing a more durable wood such as Brazilian wood may be a better choice.

2. Keep Away from Water
Hardwood flooring should be guarded against water at all costs. Mopping, standing water, and heavy pours should be kept away from the wood as they can seep under the surface and damage the floor.

3. Use Felt Pads on Furniture Legs
Most furniture is heavy and having furniture moved around can scratch the floors. Placing felt pads on the legs shield the floors from scrapping and scratches as they absorb the friction between the floors and the furniture.

4. Sweeping Regularly
One should sweep their hardwood flooring frequently; sweeping away dust and debris that settled on the flooring. Brooms and vacuums trees with ‘floor’ settings are used to avoid excessive wear on the wooden floor surfaces.

7. Wipe up Spills Quickly
Any liquid spilled should be removed quickly with absorbent cloths to avoid the wood damage.
