If you travel north plan accordingly
Major work is coming up on the I-5 Cowlitz River Bridges (milepost 59) near Vader that are going to cause some significant delays so please start preparing. The bridges will be down to a single lane around the clock northbound from 8 p.m. Monday, June 5 to 10 a.m. Friday, June 9 and southbound from 8 p.m. Monday, June 12 to 10 a.m. Friday, June 16. The SR 506 on-ramp to southbound I-5 will also be closed during the southbound work. The speed limit will be reduced to 55 mph in the work zone. Delays could reach up to 30 minutes during the morning peak and an hour in the afternoon peak so please avoid the area during those times if you can. During the work contractors will be making repairs to the bridge decks to improve the surface and extend the bridges lifespan.
SCAM ALERT!
If you receive a call that appears to be from the Cowlitz County Sheriff’s Office saying you have a warrant for missing jury duty, your social security number has been frozen, or your loved one is in jail, these are scams that have been rampant in our area. Do not call whatever number you are given, do not give anyone money, and NEVER give out your personal information over the phone.
As you travel this winter if you are in snow, mud or sandy conditions letting some air out of the tires is very helpful for improving traction
If you need a current cpr class this is a great opportunity. This coming Saturday the 15 of October we will be doing a First aid/cpr/AED combo class at Longview parks and recreation. Get signed up and come get ready for the holiday Season ahead.
BE READY WHEN YOU NEED IT MOST!
We've had a few people ask what's up with some of our lights looking purple/blue, and I had no idea so I asked around. Turns out it's a sign that some LED roadway lights are failing. It's happening in random locations and we're working on tracking them and getting them replaced as quickly as possible. If you've seen them and want to help us out with a heads up, send an email with the location to [email protected].
During the warm summer days don’t forget to stay well hydrated. Dehydration is no joke. It can lead to a long list of serious issues.
There are predicted power outages for the near future, do you have what you need when that happens? A way to cook your food and ways to stay warm or cool as the need may be.
Failing to prepare is the same as preparing to fail.
As always ask if you need help. We are always here to help.
With the current supply chain issues and more potentially on the way, take a moment and stock up on a few of the necessities you and your family need to get by. There are bare shelves already and more on the horizon. FEMA recommends a minimum of two weeks supplies. I recommend at least a month to be safe. Food, medicine and the essentials. With all that’s going on, be safe, and BE READY when you need it most.
Feel free to reach out with any questions you may have or if you are wanting training for your family or group.

As the weather gets colder and colder. Don’t forget to check over your emergency bag in your vehicle. Make sure the batteries in flashlights and other necessary gear are in working order. This is not the season to be unprepared. Be safe, And take care of you and yours.
During these seasonably warm days remember to stay hydrated.
That means water or sports drinks.
Soda, alcohol, coffee and energy drinks are not well suited for hydration.
Stay safe and enjoy the summer days.

Don’t ever mix these...
As the covid-19 situation continues to unfold we learn more and more. It’s certainly not “just like the flu” like they originally thought. And new insight is coming out daily from around the world.
But we can mitigate the risks by choosing our behaviors carefully. Wash your hands(like we all should anyway). Try to be aware of touching your face and avoid it with unwashed hands(harder than you think)
Avoid crowded areas, and self isolation is a good plan are least for the short term.
You don’t need 25 cases of TP, but having enough food and supplies to take care of you and yours for a in house quarantine that could last up to 3-4 weeks is a really good plan.
New York governor Cuomo just deployed the national guard troops to force compliance there...while he was the first. I would be surprised if he is the only governor to do that in an effort to limit the spread.
If you need help getting your priorities in order. Please ask. We are happy to help you keep your people safe.
