Happy Halloween 🎃 🦇
If any photographers would be interested in a Halloween photo shoot for next year, please DM me! I would love to make more spooky content!
Back to one of my favorite venues for this gorgeous fall wedding.
I get asked a lot of times why I don’t construct arch pieces ahead of time, hang them, and leave. It’s honestly because I like to build everything to scale. Even on arches I’ve done so many times, like this one. Every flower tucks in at an angle, fills a space, creates a mood. I get to make unique art, in person, every single time.
Sophisticated yet simple.
Bursting with color and texture, this ethereal hanging installation showcases the beauty of delicate blooms, softly draped in sheer fabrics. Designed to create a whimsical, dreamlike atmosphere, it’s a perfect statement for those seeking something unique and unforgettable for their event. 🌸✨
A whole mood. ❤️🌹🖤
Ready for the weekend already!!

When the arch demands attention.
This arch was a candy striped pattern of fall colors and textures, ranging from roses to mums and preserved and fresh fall foliage.
3 different varieties of greenery adds a textural interest that is simple yet sophisticated.

One of my favorite fall bouquets that for some reason I have no idea what happened to! I think this may have been an elopement for someone and I never got pictures of it. But, here she is.
Happy fall! 🍂🍁
From a dramatic aisle to a dramatic ceremony entrance! Moving ceremony pieces to another area is such a fun way to repurpose your florals. We also still had enough to place in front of the super cute VW Photo Booth, the sweetheart table, and the DJ booth!

Last weekend was the kick-off to our fall season and it was a doozy! Two beautiful weddings at the same time with two awesome teams working our butts off to make them happen. I can’t wait to share more!
I think that sometimes God puts obstacles in our way to force us to think different. To let go. To allow for growth because you wouldn’t (or couldn’t) do it for yourself. I need to do better with not stressing through it because deep down I know it’ll all turn out fine. One of these days I hope to get the hang of it.
But also: How about these adorable dog/donkey flower crowns?! (Yes, I said donkey 😂)
Hi! I’m Laura!
So, this is a *real* photo of me working.
It’s not glamorous. This is not a headshot or a planned photo op. It’s no makeup with shears in hand, wearing a sweatshirt because it was February and I got there at as early as I could… meaning the heat was JUST turned on and it was cold in there!
Other fun facts:
I am not a morning person and a Starbucks Chai Latte made with coconut milk and a shot of vanilla gives me the life I need to push through the puffy-faced mornings.
I have several different pairs of shears: one for my home studio, one in my freelance kit, and one for my car. That last one is because you never know what you’ll find out in the wild that you might need.
I still count on my fingers from time to time. It gets the job done 🤷♀️
I’m a real working floral artist who will bust her butt out there to make your day a success!

Color theory is the historical body of knowledge describing the behavior of colors, namely in color mixing, color contrast effects, color harmony, color schemes and color symbolism. (Per Wiki)
It is incredibly important to understand color when working with flowers or any other artistic medium. It allows you to not only match colors correctly, but also allows you to incorporate texture to create, well, a feeling. Colors speak to our emotions in ways few people even realize!
Fun fact, before I was a florist, I wanted to be a color therapist!

The most important area is the ceremony space! I always urge couples to put their money here because it makes photos look amazing for years to come.

In the slow season it’s easy for me to get caught up in my feelings about whether I’m “good enough”. I have been taking social media breaks for my own mental health and to preserve my own creative spirit.
I also take that time to remind myself of why I’m special in an industry of really special people!
I went on a site visit the other day and the bride had made a request that, to her, seemed a little outlandish. I said, without skipping a beat: “I am fearless when it comes to this stuff. I will make anything work and make it look good.”
It’s true. I said it to make her feel better, but she did pick the *right* florist for her vision. I’m a floral badass when I’m in my element and I find real joy in creating the unexpected. If your florist isn’t confident in what they do, do you even have the right one?

Inspired by Australian design and the bride’s love for English garden, this mix of two styles was delivered in this floral install that surrounded the couple. Antique hydrangea, super long amaranthus and touches of pearl adorned anthurium added modern touches to organic foraged greens.

This is our take on classic, yet artsy, white and green. Cascading bouquets never go out of style (and neither do orchids).

It’s the last day for this beauty before she’s gone forever tonight! Take one last look at this and all of the other incredible flower sculptures before they are taken down this evening. Oh, and don’t forget to vote for your favorite!
The tree canopy over our castle girl is roughly 20ft in the air, easily seen from most anywhere in the exhibit!
Fun fact: These foraged branches are actually turned on their sides to make the airy 2-D tree-like effect. They grow naturally with their leaves facing downward!

Curvy clouds of colored floral and tulle. This took an entire day (and a half 🤪) to construct and took 3 strong guys to lift each section and attach. It was a TIME but we did it 💪

About Flaura Botanica
“Don’t you just love playing with flowers all day?!”
I wish I had a romantic story about how this business started... but it really chose me! I started with grocery store flowers. I would make bouquets with them and think, “Hmm! that would be pretty for someone’s wedding!”. I got a job at a florist and learned the basics. I took a few floral classes here in Atlanta and stretched my creative legs a bit. Then one day I did my first wedding, and it was after that I knew there was no turning back!
I love that Flaura Botanica is bespoke and original. I love the unique, the unexpected, the wild, and the romantic. I work with color and texture in nature (and sometimes elsewhere!) to tell a story that is special to my clients.
So, maybe the beginning of this flower story isn’t very romantic. But who’s to say the rest of this journey can’t be?! I look forward to the next chapter in our story.
