Want to improve your energy? Want to improve your cardiovascular fitness? Want to lose weight?
Try zone 2 training.
What is zone 2 training? Great question. Zone 2 training is aerobic training (like running, cycling or rowing) where you keep your heart rate within a defined range of heart beats per minute.
This type of training improves how the energy factory of your cells works, the mitochondria.
When you train this way, you are improving your heart health. The more you do it, the stronger your heart.
You will need to do some math next. Find or estimate your maximum heart rate (google that). Find your resting heart rate (google). Then use the karvonen formula to find your zone 2 levels.
Or.
Many just use the talk test. Zone 2 training is that intensity of training where you can hold a labored conversation, you can respond to questions but the person asking will know that you are exercising.
You should try to build up to 90-120 minutes a week or training at that level. But for now, just start doing it.
My zone 2 hr is 128-141 beats per minute. I record all of my rowing sessions while wearing a heart rate monitor.
I’ll put a link to some more info in the replies. This is my last zone 2 session.

A simple maintenance workout addressing the hip and overhead (gh flexion) position. I used video to work on kettlebell swing form.
Sauna time! in my infrared sauna for 25 minutes at 135-140 degrees. I Practice the Normal Breath Form in a box breathing pattern seated with Subtle IAP (especially in the lower abdominal wall) for cycles of 3-5 minutes during the 25 minutes in the sauna. My emphasis is on lateral rib excursion looking for symmetry and/or restricted rib movement. Big muscles carry more tension and will feel stiff to the touch. If the joints they control move normally than that feeling of stiffness is not a problem. You want enough mobility to perform all of your daily activities that you enjoy to do. If you are too flexible then your body has to work to control that extra flexibility. Too much flexibility is worse than too little. I’ll have more posts on this. www.thcksq.com
