Congratulations to Firefighter C. Dennis for obtaining Hazardous Material Awareness and Operations Level Certification! This is a 40 hour course that was taught at the FEMA Center for Domestic Preparedness in Anniston, Alabama.

On July 12th 2024 at 21:18 Dunklin County Emergency Services received a automated alert from Apple advising crash detection. The recording provides the coordinates of the device. The coordinates were located on State Highway NN. Dispatched were Highway Patrol and Dunklin County Sheriff Office, the deputy arrived on scene. A motorcycle had crashed in the curve. The driver was transported by Medic One to a local hospital for his injuries. While on scene of the crash the deputy located the driver’s apple phone several feet from the driver’s reach. The iPhone still had the emergency crash detection activation displayed on the device, advising local 911 emergency services had been contacted.

Did you know that apple iPhone and Apple Watches possessed this feature? When the apple watch or iPhone detects a severe car crash, the device will check in with the user and dial 911 if they are unresponsive after a 10-second countdown.

On supported iPhone and Apple Watch models, Crash Detection is turned on by default. You can also take these steps to make sure that your device is able to share the information that your emergency contacts and emergency responders need.

☎️To alert your emergency contacts and share your Medical ID with emergency responders, set up your Medical ID and your emergency contacts in the Health app.
📍To share your location with your emergency contacts, turn on Location Services for Emergency SOS: On your iPhone, tap Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services > System Services, and make sure Emergency Calls & SOS is turned on.

Kennett firefighters were dispatched to a report of a structure fire this morning at 6:02. Upon arrival smoke was found coming from the attic of a vacant structure, firefighters entered the structure and quickly controlled the fire. Upon investigation the cause of the fire has been ruled to have been intentional set. Anyone with information can contact Kennett Police Department investigator Jeremy Yates at 573-888-4622 , or Kennett Fire Department Fire Marshal Dennis Hamlett at 573-888-5337. Damage to the structure was limited and there were no injuries.

If anyone would like to donate to this family in need we would be happy to be a drop off place and get the things to the victims!
