Royal Oaks Encore trip
Good evening friends.
I apologize for the late notice but here are the details for the trip to the Royal Oaks orchard in Harvard this Thursday. We will be taking CLS vehicles for this adventure.
We will leave the church at 10:15 to get to Culver’s in Lake Geneva about 11:00. Lunch there will be at your expense. The ride into the orchard is scheduled at 1:00 so if you get there early you can shop until it’s time to go on the ride. After the ride you will have a chance to go through some more shops. You can plan to be back at the church about 3:00.
If you live in Lake Geneva and want to meet at Culver’s, you can plan to be there at 11 and it’s a short drive to Royal Oaks from there.
Blessings - and be praying for a nice weather day on Thursday!

Good afternoon friends,
We have a few updates for you today…
If you are still interested in going to the concert with Ronnie and Kim Booth at the Fireside on Wednesday, October 2nd. there are now two tickets available from someone who cannot go. Tickets are $42/each. Let me know if you are wanting to attend with us.
If you are interested in going to the Royal Oaks Apple Orchard on October 24th, let us know. We will go to Culvers in Lake Geneva for lunch (your cost), then out to the orchard where we will go on a hay ride into the orchard, and then be able to “shop” at the stores there. Cost is $15/person.
Our Christmas event is already sold out, but if you are interested, we will take your name for the waiting list. We are going to see White Christmas on Wednesday, December 4th – tickets are $50/person. We will have lunch at the Cheesecake Factory before the program, and that will be your cost separately. Let us know if you want to be added to the waiting list.
We have some good news to share with you today…
Our friend Raul is scheduled to have a pacemaker inserted today. He is in good spirits and grateful for this procedure to be completed. The hiccups that have plagued him for the past 2 years have eased, and another request is that those would be done completely and not return. Thanks for your prayers for continued and complete healing.
My brother Kevin had the MRI recently, and they believe the mass is part of the disease that he’s been battling, which is much better than a cancer on his brain. The mass is shrinking which means the medication is working – so that is a huge praise. He is still scheduled to go to Mayo this fall, but this is definitely an answer to prayer. The ongoing request would be that the disease will be completely gone from his body and never return, and that he will not have to continue to be back on the steroid.
Our friend Linda had her cataract surgery last Tuesday, and she is doing well. She is so glad to be able to see better and thanks us for the prayers for her.
Dick Udvare is doing better after having a health scare recently. Please pray for his continued restoration.
Prayer request:
Linda Lee’s mom, Marcella Beverly is in the hospital where they have discovered lesions in different places throughout her body. Marcella is a faithful servant who ushers almost every Sunday at the doors on the south end of the auditorium. She recently had surgery and the results were good, but now she is facing another situation where she needs God’s touch in her body. Let’s stand with her and the family during this time.
This weekend is the Conference at Journey Church. Let’s pray together for lives to be changed and enriched as they attend.
Thanks for your continued prayers and support.

Good afternoon Encore friends,
I hope you are enjoying another beautiful Wisconsin fall day!
We have several prayer requests that some of our friends need for us to intercede with them. Just a reminder that if you were at Journey Church this morning, we know that we serve a God who is far stronger than anything the devil would try to throw at us. Let’s join together for victory for some serious health issues.
Raul Herrera suffered a heart event on Friday night as we returned from our trip to Pennsylvania. God was so good in that it happened at the Milwaukee airport, and the EMS personnel there were there immediately to help. Raul is at the hospital in Milwaukee, and they are running tests to find the reason for the attack. Raul said… “God must have more work for me to do.” Let’s pray with them for complete resolution to the situation.
Linda LePounce asked for prayer for her sister as the Doctors have found 2 spots of cancer, and will be running more tests tomorrow. Linda is asking for no more spots and for healing for her sister.
Joan Stanich will be starting treatment for some unresolved skin cancers, and she is also asking prayer for no side effects and that the treatment will be successful. God is able to take care of these cancers so they are gone. Also please pray for Doug for some on-going health issues. Their faith is strong for these situations – let’s stand with them during this time.
Our new friend Linda is having cataract surgery on Tuesday. She is asking for prayer that things will go well and healing will be quick.
Several have asked for updates about my brother. I was able to go and see him a week ago – he has now had his MRI but there is no report back on that yet. The doctors here are working closely with the Mayo team and the person who discovered his rare disease. He is having trouble sleeping so he is always tired. That would be a big request as well as a good report from this MRI. I will let you know when we hear more there.
Praise: Tony Baird has been able to be in church for the past several weeks and recently has been walking in with his walker. His physical therapy is going well, and they are very pleased with how Tony has been recovering. Very soon he will be able to be home on his own, but there are a couple of ways we can help…
While he has a few more sessions of therapy in Milwaukee, it would be great if anyone is available to help with transportation to and from there. When he is finished with that, he will be home all day, and visits would be so helpful. They live just a couple of blocks from the church and we would be sure you have their address. If you are available with either of those, please let me know and we will connect you with Tony or Rae.
Thanks and special blessings to each of you,
Marge for Pastor Dan and Alexia

Peanut Butter & Jam July 11.
Encore Activities // Kenosha
Good Morning!
Our next Encore event will be this Thursday, July 11th. We will be enjoying the summer Peanut Butter and Jam concert at Veterans Memorial Park in Kenosha. The address is 54th and 6th Ave – right on beautiful Lake Michigan.
The concert begins at 11:30 AM, and we will meet there. Lance and Laura Campbell will be there early to reserve our spots. Boxed lunches will be available for those who paid or let us know they were coming. If you didn’t sign up to attend, we would still love to have you join us – there are food venues in the area that you can enjoy. Drinking water will be available for everyone.
Bring an outside chair, umbrella, for sun coverage, a hat for our sensitive scalps, and sunscreen. We will sit in the back so we can all be together – we will still be able to hear the concert, but will be able to connect and visit too. There are some benches, but it will be hard to eat on those – and we can all sit together if we bring our own chairs.
PRAYER REQUESTS:
Please ray for Nan and Rich Lentz – both have serious health issues and need the Lord to touch each of them.
Doug Stanich is in the hospital with serious heart issues. Pray for these requests and believe that the Lord will heal them each.
Blessings – looking forward to seeing you on Thursday – at Veterans Memorial Park in Kenosha.

Good afternoon Encore friends,
Here are the most current notes for Encore events coming up. I apologize for the delay, but we have been waiting for details to be updated so now we can make our plans.
As you know, we were planning to go to the Pritzker Museum and then to lunch on Thursday, June 13th. The museum has just opened to the public in the last couple of weeks, but they are open only with limited hours, and according to their office, everything is not opened yet. In fact they are not even open on Thursdays, ... but we will still get together for lunch.
Casa Capri restaurant is ready for us to meet there at 11:30 am on Thursday, June 13th. The menu will be salad, pasta, pizza, dessert, and a drink. Your cost will be $15/person which will also include the tip for the servers. Please let me know if you plan to attend so I can give them a number to prepare the food. Some of you have pre-paid the original amount that we listed for this day - I will refund you the money that we had included with the museum.
You can drive to the restaurant yourself - the address is 2129 Birch Rd, Kenosha, WI. That is on the north side of Kenosha, just off 22nd Ave. We will also car pool and have a CLS vehicle that will leave from the church at 11:10. You can pay at the Information Desk at church on Sunday, or drop it off in the church office - and because of the timing of these details, you can pay that morning - but again, we need to know you are coming ahead of time so we can be prepared with food and transportation.
The schedule for the Peanut Butter and Jam concerts in downtown Kenosha just came out, so we are in the process of checking the band that will be best for us to enjoy together. We will let you know as soon as we get that. The band will determine the scheduled date.
There are not any events planned for August.
September 9-13 will be our trip to Pennsylvania. We do have 1 spot that just opened up. If you are interested in going, let us know right away, because our deadline for final payment is June 30th, and after that we won't be able to make changes.
Our Wisconsin 50+ retreat is Thursday - Saturday, September 5-7. It is held every year in Waupaca, WI. We will not be taking a group up this year, but you are welcome to attend on your own. You can get the details and the registration form online at wmndretreats.org.
October 2nd there is a concert at the Fireside Theater in Ft. Atkinson with Ronnie and Kim Booth. The cost for the concert and a buffet lunch is $42.00/person. There are just a couple of spots left so let us know right away if you are interested. A non-refundable deposit of $20 will reserve your spot.
Prayer Request: We have been praying for Gary Shuler who is an usher at the Kenosha campus. He has suffered a few strokes - went into rehab, and then was transferred back to the hospital after complications set in. At this point, he has taken a turn for the worse, and the family is in the process of coordinating hospice care. Please pray for the family as they walk through this tough time. Of course, we know that God can completely heal Gary, and we pray with his family and friends for healing and comfort.
We have also been praying for Katie Kaufman’s grandmother. Katie is the youth pastor at our Burlington campus. Grandma passed away earlier this week - please pray for their family as they grieve the loss of grandma who was so vital in their family.
Make it a great day. We look forward to hearing from you.

Good afternoon Encore Friends,
Here are a couple of updates for our group. We have some opportunities coming that we want to you to be aware of and to be involved in.

We look forward to you coming whether you are dressed for a tea party or simply in your Tee! It is going to be one special morning you won’t want to miss.

Good afternoon dear friends,
What a beautiful winter we have had (except I love snow!) but I heard that this is the first day of spring, and now I am ready for that. So I am sending this out on a sunshiny 50 degree day.
I will start out with the prayer requests today - we have some friends who really need us to hold them up in prayer right now. Many of you know Joe and Edith Robinson - Edith passed away this past weekend. She has been very sick these past few months and just recently went into hospice care. Sunday she received her new body and is now dancing in heaven. But Joe and Edith were such a team, and Joe will really miss his sweetheart, so pray for he and the rest of the family as they go through this next season of learning to live without their smiling and positive Edith.
The celebration of Edith's life with be this coming Saturday, March 23rd with visitation at Piasecki's at 3:00 PM and a service following at 5:00 PM. Pastor Kevin will be serving the family for this service.
Bernie Clack recently fractured her right knee and will need to be in a knee brace and using crutches for several weeks. Pray for her to heal quickly and to be able to do what needs to be done during this time of healing.
ENCORE NEWS
April 11th we are going to tour Paielli's Bakery at 8:00 AM. You can meet us at the bakery (6020 39th Ave, Kenosha) as there is a large parking lot for the bakery. From there we will have a breakfast buffet at 9:30 at the Birchwood Grill (7515 - 125th Ave - just west of Journey church on Highway 50). Breakfast cost will be $15/person. We will have maps available at the info desk on the Sunday previous, or in the office that week. If you are uncomfortable driving on your own, there will be a vehicle at the church that will leave the front parking lot at 7:45 AM. You can come to both or choose one or the other - but if you haven't let us know yet, please respond to the message and let us know so they will be ready for us at each place.
If you are signed up to attend the musical (Beautiful - the story of Carol King) at the Fireside on May 9th, be sure to pay the balance of your ticket , and let us know what you would like to have for your meal that day. You can respond to this message and we can give you details if you have questions , but I need your balance and your meal choice before April 7th as we have to pay the balance and give them the menu choices early. Don't be afraid to ask questions.
For those who are planning to go to Lancaster with us in September, the balance for your trip will be due July 1st. We will have to pay for our tour as well as the flight prices that week, so that deadline is firm. We will also need information from you (your name as it appears on your ID (driver's license) and your full birthdate. There will be more reminders before that deadline but this is to get you starting to think about it!
We have added an event for October. We have purchased tickets for a matinee launch and a gospel concert with Ronnie and Kim Booth at the Fireside Theater on October 2nd. Ronnie was part of the Booth Brothers who are a well known southern gospel group and he has won many prestigious awards. But his greatest accomplishment in the musical world is that he loves the Lord, and this matinee will include familiar classes from various genres of music and ending in beautiful worship to the Lord. He and his wife Kim, who grew up as a preacher's kid and has a sweet angelic voice herself will bless us with a special blend of their voices as they join together in worship.
This will be a buffet lunch and the cost for the event and transportation will be $42.00/person. The deposit to hold your spot will be $20/person.
Don't forget our regular monthly events - 1st Tuesday of each month - The Well - a gathering for women - 9:30am at the Kenosha Campus
All Church Corporate Prayer - First Wednesday of each month - in the Kenosha campus auditorium - 6:30 PM
Easter is quickly coming up and we will need a lot of help at each of the services. If you are available to help in any of the services, let us know and we will get you in touch with the people who are needing that help.
Happy Easter - Happy spring. You bless us!

Good afternoon friends! I just stepped outside and it feels like spring today! We are surely blessed, aren’t we?
Last Friday evening we had another fun and tasty Taco/Movie event at the church. 105 attended and enjoyed the authentic Taco meal, and then watched an uplifting AND inspiring MOVIE… “A Million Miles Away”. If you have not seen it you might try to find and watch it yourself.
Our next event will be on Thursday, April 11th, when we will be able to tour Paielli’s Bakery. This day will be a little different than our usual events, so we would encourage everyone to go directly to the bakery as we need to be there by 8:00 AM (when the bakers are working). We will have a small vehicle at the church if needed for transportation, and we will send more details as we get closer to the event. Following the tour, (about 9:30) we would like to have breakfast together at Birchwood Grill - that buffet is $15.00/person. This is an event where you can do either the tour or the breakfast buffet or both. But we need to know what you are thinking at this point (this is not a commitment - just wondering about numbers for each venue). Will you respond to this message and let me know what you are thinking? Birchwood does not usually open until 11:00, but will open early for us if we have 30 people, so I need to know how to proceed with them. Thank you for doing that as soon as possible.
Please pray for Joe and Edith Robinson. Last week we were praying for Edith as she is having some serious medical issues. Today Joe called and asked for prayer for himself as he has serious medical issues of his own, but is not admitted to the hospital as he is the caregiver for Edith. They both need a miracle in their lives. Thanks you for standing with them during this time.
Also pray for Todd and Heide Thorne who had a serious loss with their barn burning down completely. All humans are unharmed and we are so grateful for that, but they lost several large animals. They are so thankful that the family is all safe, but mourning the loss of their animal family. Pray for comfort as they process their loss and for the details as they move forward to restoration etc.
We are so grateful for each of you and looking forward to seeing you again soon. Love and prayers for our Encore family.

Taco movie night. Great food, fellowship and a movie!
January ENCORE "Maple Table Restaurant" breakfast. Sorry I'm so late in posting these pictures.
ENCORE ACTIVITIES / KENOSHA
We started out the year in January with a mystery breakfast to The Maple Tablein Racine. Taco/Movie night has become an annual event (3 years now) that is always a SPECIAL evening together. With our authentic Taco meal and then a powerful movie (this year “A Million Miles Away”), it’s another guaranteed “win” for everyone who attends. It’s February 16th, (this Friday) starting at 5:30pm in the CLS Commons (lunch room) and Auditorium. Cost for this wonderful Valentines evening is only $10.00/person. Some of the dates coming up could change as we get closer and have to make adjustments, but these are the plans we have right now.
How would you like to find out how your favorite bakery treats are made? On April 11th we are planning to take a tour of one of Kenosha’s best loved and longest lasting family owned local business. Paielli’s is located in Kenosha at 6020 39th Ave, Kenosha, WI. 53142, where approximately 70 employees help in the production, delivering and selling of the many products Paielli’s offers. The products range from sweet rolls, cakes, pies, kringle desserts as well as over 7000 loaves of bread seven days a week. Because of when the bakers are working, we have to be ready for our tour at 8:00 AM. Following that tour that day we will head to Birchwood for a breakfast buffet. Birchwood is a spot Encore is familiar with and is located very close to our Kenosha campus - just west on Highway 50 at 7515 125th Ave, Kenosha, WI. 53142. We are encouraging you to drive to the venues, but we will have a small vehicle at the church that will leave there at 7:45am if you are not available to drive. We will have maps available for you if you are not sure how to get to each place.
Thursday, May 9th will be another Fireside Theatre in Ft. Atkinson where we will be seeing the musical “Beautiful” which is the story of Carole King. The production will be filled with songs you remember as well as a story you’ll never forget. The cost which will include the coach bus transportation, as well as the “sit-down, served meal”, and the musical production will be $90/person. We will leave the front church parking lot at 9:00 AM and will return about 4:30 that afternoon. We will be happy to put you on the waiting list if seats become available.
June 13th –The Pritzker Military Museum will be opening in Somers this spring, and we would like to check it out. This is another event that we are working on details for, but at this point we are planning to visit the museum and then go to a wonderful lunch of salad, pasta and pizza at Casa Capri together. We will get you more details as they become available, but we anticipate the museum, lunch and transportation will cost about $30.00/person.
July 11 – Let’s get together for a group picnic lunch at the Peanut Butter and Jam concerts downtown Kenosha. We don’t have their list of artists available to us, but the concerts are outside and fun and it’s another great time to be together. We will have boxed lunches available to purchase. Of course we will have more details as they become available, but for now, SAVE THE DATE of July 11th.
Lancaster/Philly/Gettysburg Pennsylvania – September 9-13, 2024. After 3 tries, we are making plans again to go to this very historic area. We have reservations for 50 people and you can reserve your spot with $100/person non-refundable deposit. Included in the cost of $1100/person will be your flight, motel, most meals, incredible live presentation of “Daniel” at Sight and Sound theater, tours of Amish living, going into the historical areas of the famous Gettysburg area, and the many historical highlights of Philadelphia. This is going to be a trip you don’t want to miss, and there are still some seats available. However it is starting to get filled up so reserve your spot right away. Your spot will be reserved with that $100 non-refundable deposit!
October 10th – Apple Orchard excursion to Royal Oaks! None of the orchards are open now so we don’t have final details, but save the date so you can join us. If you can, let us know that you are interested just so we can make the best decisions. This will just help us as we make our final plans and we will get those to you as we get closer.
November/December – Christmas Event. Many Christmas venues aren’t available yet either, but we usually try to find something the first weekend of December, and will get that information to you as soon as we can.
There are several things that happen consistently, and we will keep reminding you as these dates come up.
Every month there is CORPORATE PRAYER at the Kenosha Campus on the first Wednesday from 6:30 – 8:00. We can be an integral part of the prayer ministry of our church. Meet in the auditorium and join together with others to intercede for the needs that will be presented there. At home, pray for those in our group who have needs, as well as praying for our pastoral staff and for our church.
PRAYER REQUESTS NOW: Edith Robinson has some very serious medical issues that are being checked out, and she is in a lot of pain. Please pray for her healing and comfort and for she and Joe search for specialists who can help her best.·
Debbie Stensgard – recently had her hip replaced and is now home. She is recovering well, but pray for her complete recovery and comfort quickly.·
Jeanetta has a physical condition that needs healing. Doctors are still looking for the source of the problem so they can treat effectively. ·
Pray for families where members have emotional and mental issues. There are also people who are facing physical needs and we need to stand with them in prayer. Pray for those who are facing Alzheimer’s diagnosis, and for the family members who are agonizing and caring for them.·
Katie Kaughman’s grandmother that we have been praying for, had a set-back medically recently. Please continue to pray for complete healing and that the Doctors will be able to help her recover.
All of these requests require us to stand in for those involved, and to take the recent sermons from our Sunday morning communicators into practice. Let’s ask and believe God for those miracles, and thank Him in advance for what He is going to do for them.
SERVING OPPORTUNITIES: Journey Church and Encore are serving people. There will be opportunities provided during the year, and we want to be an active part of those as they are presented. They can be as easy as the recent “Valentines for Veterans”; more energy but great fellowship as with the “fluffing Christmas tree” day; sorting clothes at Nifty Thrifty; tying baby blankets for Jockey’s foster care children, and many other opportunities throughout the year. We will keep in touch as these opportunities come up.
THE WELL a group of about 100 ladies of all ages that meets the first Tuesday of each month at the Kenosha Campus lobby from 9:30 – 11:30 AM. If you are looking for community, encouragement, biblical teaching and fellowship for women, come to The Well. The next gathering will be on Tuesday, March 5th.
Blessings and love to each of you,
