The DesMoines River is almost at flood stage. We hurried over the border into Missouri to quick get gas (cheaper) before the highway closes.

I worked on two oil paintings this weekend, one of our cat Tony the Tiger who passed away this year, and one of a barn west of Nauvoo. That was a little change from painting walls for my clients!

Today is a HUUUUUGE day to celebrate: it's my 50th anniversary of my painting business. Yep, 50 years. And a HUUUUUUUGE thank you and LOVE to all 20,000 + clients who have trusted me to paint their interiors and exteriors again and again, and who have recommended me to friends and family. It's good to trust a painter who has an art degree, is local, insured, uses the TOP Sherwin Williams and Benjamin Moore paint products, and does impeccable workmanship. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart for believing in me for 50 years!!!! Everyone!

Just wanted to share again the story of our Christmas tree.

The story of our Cristmas tree in Keokuk, Iowa: right after we bought the house and got the keys, we found this poor, crushed, totally sad Christmas tree lying in pieces where it had been dragged to the curb, waiting for its final crushing in the trash truck. My friends Bette Ruth DelCorps and Dollie Corwin and I looked it over and decided to drag the pieces back to the porch. It seemed so sad, lying disgraced in the dirt on the curb. It looked like it was a perfectly fine Christmas tree in Its day. Little did we know that we dragged it under a spot on the porch where birds were building their nest. Weeks later, when Tom and I looked over the tree, it had been splatted with bird p**p everywhere. Tom and I gave it a bath in the yard, dried it in the warm Iowa sun, and carried it in. Tom did careful surgery to remove every old, dead light. We bought it new lights, decked it out with our ornaments, and here it is, celebrating the birth of Jesus this Christmas season, right in the center of our home. Merry Christmas and happy New Year from our Christmas tree and all of us!!
