Behavioral health workers at Compass Health - NW Washington delivered our 10-day notice of intent to hold informational pickets to CEO Tom Sebastian today. We’re ready to take action! After 16 months in bargaining, it’s time for Compass Health to quit stalling and to settle a strong contract that recruits and retains us instead of moving backward. Proposing cuts to healthcare benefits for healthcare workers is wrong!

Compass Health must live up to its commitment to care for the communities we serve across Western Washington. Our clients in Whatcom, Snohomish, Island, Skagit, and San Juan counties deserve quality behavioral health care, but supporting communities starts with supporting workers.

Save the date📅 and make a plan to stand with us on the picket line!

🟣July 29: Picket at Compass Health in Bellingham,12-1 p.m.
🟣August 1: Picket and rally at Mukilteo E&T, 4-6 p.m.
🟣August 3: Rally in Bellingham, 11 a.m.

Picket and rally locations will be announced soon.

What do we want? A fair contract! 🗣️ When do we want it? Now! 🗣️

Healthcare workers at Valley Medical Center in Renton aren’t backing down from action, even as UW Medicine administration continues to bring major takeaways to the bargaining table and plans to cut important care for our patients. From closing down the Eye Clinic, an important place where vulnerable community members receive care, to eliminating important premium pay, to making it easier to replace our union jobs with non-union contracted workers, and more, it’s clear that UW Medicine is more interested in protecting their bottom line than protecting workers and patients.

That’s why we held two important actions this week – first, we attended the VMC Board of Commissioners and Renton City Council meetings on Monday to share our stories and present a letter signed by dozens of elected officials, community leaders and members calling on Valley to live up to their mission and keep the Eye Clinic open.

Today, we held our weekly Wednesday Rally at Valley to stand together for a fair contract, show management our unity, and hype up our bargaining team!

From the frontlines to the bargaining table, we are one Valley. We are united and will continue to take actions to keep our Eye Clinic open and to secure the contract we need to recruit and retain and provide quality care.

📣 Important update 📣 Safe staffing laws, including meal and rest break requirements, are changing for over 60 healthcare job classes. Because we stood together with union healthcare workers across the state, our legislature passed new staffing laws in 2022. Implementation for those laws have begun. We're staying united and persistent at the bargaining table for fair wages, affordable healthcare, strong retirement benefits, respect, and a culture of belonging at Comprehensive Life Resources in Tacoma.

Our unity is moving management, but we still have a ways to go -- that's why we wore stickers this week to show CLR that we'll keep taking action until we win a strong contract that recruits and retains quality behavioral health workers.

Behavioral health workers at Compass have been holding strong at the bargaining table for wages that bring the lowest paid workers up to regional standards, and to preserve our healthcare benefits. Now, we have taken our fight to the community to make our voice even louder!

You can find our signs, saying “Supporting Communities Starts With Supporting Workers”, all over Whatcom County, including at Bakerview Starbucks, Woods Coffee in Ferndale, Ferndale Public Library, Chocolate Necessities,Third Planet, The Stone Moon, Are You My Human, and our community bulletin board.

Additionally, yesterday we met with state representative Joe Timmons. He heard about our fight for a fair contract and has committed to stand with us.

We are energized by overwhelming community support, and ready and committed to take action to win a great contract!

Last night, healthcare workers at Kadlec in Richland stood united in a moment of silence at our candlelight vigil for safe patient care 🕯️

We know that a strong contract that pays us fairly and uplifts our sacrifices as healthcare workers will ensure that we can deliver the level of quality care that our Tri-Cities community needs. Providence, we’ll continue to call on you until you hear us: come to the bargaining table prepared to settle an agreement with wages that keep up with pay at Swedish so we can recruit and retain caregivers. Invest in care, not executive pay.

While Compass Health continues to bring backwards proposals to the bargaining table, behavioral health workers at Compass facilities across Western WA aren’t backing down from action! We stickered up to show management that our unity won’t stop. We’ll continue to show up for ourselves, our patients, and our communities until we win the strong contract that allows us to live where we work and take care of our families.

1,100 Tri-Cities medical workers vote to strike if fair wage demands aren’t met 07/02/2024

We held a successful informational picket at Kadlec in May, but the action doesn't stop there. We're not backing down in our fight for a strong contract that respects our worth and uplifts quality care.

Our message to Providence is clear: “Same employer, same work, same pay.”

With our vote to authorize our bargaining team to call for public action, we also authorized them to call for a strike if necessary. Healthcare workers never want to strike, but we will do what it takes to protect our patients and the quality of care we provide to our Tri-Cities community.

It doesn’t get clearer than this: Healthcare workers at Valley Medical Center in Renton will NOT move backwards. This week, we united across units and job classes to send a powerful message to UW Medicine administration: NO CUTS TO OUR CONTRACT.

We know that standing united is what’s needed to win a contract that’s great for us, great for our patients, and great for our community. As workers in a public district hospital, we are determined to protect the quality of care we provide – that starts with protecting our wages, our benefits, and our hard-won standards. From the front line to the bargaining table, we’re holding the line against takeaways!

Our unity only continues to grow! 💜 Healthcare workers at Kadlec in Richland purple-d up to show that we stand united for a fair contract with wages that respect our experience and are in line with wages Providence pays our colleagues at Swedish in Seattle. Same work, same employer, same pay! We’re also fighting for safe staffing, fair leave policies, and a voice in our healthcare benefits. We’re holding strong at the bargaining table and ready for action with the support of our community.

Healthcare workers at three Neighborcare clinics in Seattle — 45th Street, Lake City, and Meridian — took a stand today and delivered a petition signed by dozens of us to management. We spoke out about our concerns related to recent safety threats, our ongoing staffing shortages, and communication gaps, among other issues.

We demand better from Neighborcare leadership. Transparency, adequate staffing, and preparedness are not optional. We stand united for the safety of our patients and our staff, and we will continue to advocate until a real safety plan is in place and meaningful steps are taken to address our staffing crisis!

1,100 Tri-Cities medical workers vote to strike if fair wage demands aren’t met 05/31/2024

As we head back to the bargaining table after making our voices heard at our informational picket at Kadlec earlier this week, we’re energized by the momentum we generated with our public action and ready to do what it takes to win a contract that recruits and retains us with wages that pay us our worth. We told Providence: “same employer, same work, same pay,” and we’re determined to keep up the fight!

Along with our vote earlier this month to authorize our bargaining team to call for an informational picket, we also authorized them to call for a strike if necessary, taking into account the required 10-day notice. Healthcare workers never want to strike, but we will do what it takes to protect our patients and the quality of care we provide.

Kadlec healthcare workers in Richland and Kennewick are making our voices heard: Same employer, same work, same pay!

Yesterday, alongside our friends, families, and community members, hundreds of Kadlec service and tech healthcare workers picketed outside of our hospital and emergency department to send a message to Providence that we stand strong and united for a contract with fair wages, safe staffing, PTO, and more.

In order to recruit and retain us, Providence needs to step up and accept our proposals that would treat us with the same dignity and respect as it treats healthcare workers at other Providence hospitals like Swedish. We won’t sit back while they keep putting profits over patients!

Shout out to our SEIU Local 925 SEIU 775 and Washington State Nurses Association siblings for joining us on the picket line and standing in solidarity with us.
