Update:
Thank you everyone! Our team is all safe. At this point we anticipate being back to work after the weekend but are continuing to stay in contact with the fire department today as they are still on the scene at 5:45PM. Again, we want to convey just how grateful we are for their particular care in keeping us informed next door.
Original Post:
Hello everyone, Ryan here. Many of our kind friends, clients, and neighbors have reached out to us this morning about the tragedy downtownāas you may know, our studio is directly next to the mill. We share an alley! I had actually come in early today and was working by myself in the studio before being evacuated by an officer who was clearing our building. I came outside to Josh who had just parked in the lot behind Town Hall II and we both stood there for only a moment before the front of the building blew out. Our team is all safe, as are our neighbors in the Sanford Building. On a personal note, Nate and I actually both very recently had the chance to walk down and visit the Kent Fire Department to discuss our design work with the city and how we might be able to serve them. Chief Myers and the rest of the Captains and Firefighters that we met were extremely kind, welcoming, and hospitable in showing us around their facilities and describing their work downtown. I left that meeting feeling especially grateful to have such a fantastic group of people keeping our community safe and was heartened to see the Chief standing outside of our building as I evacuated. We want to offer our sincere thanks to these first responders and the care they put into clearing our building and ensuring that we are safe as this fire continues to be foughtānot to mention the personnel from Stow, Hudson, Brimfield, Ravenna, Mantua, Streetsboro, Tallmadge, Uniontown, Cuyahoga Falls, Munroe Falls, Suffield, and I am sure others that I have missed who are here on the scene today. Thank you all! I am not sure what to say to our neighbors in this beautiful city except that we are so proud to be downtown with you and a part of this season together.

Today weāre reflecting on the events of May 4, 1970 at Kent State and the lasting impact this day has had on our community here in downtown Kent. We were so thankful to be a part of releasing this interactive map last year. Please consider exploring one of the digital tours about May 4 today.
