Fairytale Farm Rescue & Sanctuary
Providing safety & healing for animals and humans through education, rescue, rehab and volunteering.
🦆🐇 Elizabeth & Ruby Updates ❤️🩹
🦆 Elizabeth had to have her full left wing amputated. After seeing it more closely, the vet performing her surgery felt the fracture was too severe to put her through a more extensive surgery to pin the wing. This will be a much less stressful healing process for her. She is home, happily eating and relaxing with pain meds and antibiotics. She will need to stay inside with extra TLC for a couple of weeks until she’s fully healed.
🐇 Ruby made the second leg of her journey thanks to an amazing volunteer and friend. Her head tilt is severe, but her spirit is strong. She is very social and curious and seems so happy to be able to stretch her legs. Her vet evaluation is scheduled for Friday morning 🙏🏼
We are working on a new merch fundraiser for these two so stay tuned! ☺️
🐇🦆💔 We’re dealing with two tough situations today.
🐇 This rabbit named Ruby has been at a county animal shelter since the beginning of September. They contacted 7 rescues who all said no until one of our fosters learned about the situation and asked if we could help - we said yes. Ruby has severe head tilt. We don’t know what her prognosis will be, but we know it wasn’t right to let her sit one more minute in the shelter. She was picked up by a volunteer and is being loved on tonight. She’ll make the rest of the journey here tomorrow and we will have her evaluated by our vet.
🦆 Elizabeth is part of our Muscovy duck flock and hopped up to dinner last night with her left wing hanging down. She was seen today and has a broken humerus (basically her shoulder) that requires immediate surgery to put a pin in to hold the bone in place to heal. We are not sure what happened, but our best guess is she ran or flew into a fence and injured herself. The vet said she’s the most feisty little duck she’s seen in a while and we hope that will go a long way in her fight to heal. Anesthesia is very dangerous for ducks, but surgery is the only option for her to heal.
The current cost estimate for both is $1,200, but the rabbit estimate could go up significantly depending on the outcome of her vet visit. We are working on a fundraiser idea, but if you would like to contribute now, please hit the “donate” button at the top of our website FairytaleFarm.org
And please send prayers and well wishes for both of these babies! 🙏🏼
👏🏼 We do have amazing news - three of our rescued rabbits were adopted into amazing homes yesterday. Scout, Stewie and Carol we are so happy for you and your new happy lives! 🎉
Our community is full of amazing adopters, supporters and volunteers. We love you so much! 🥹❣️
⭐️🤯 Y’all, please be kind. Since we’ve opened the adoption shop our minds have been blown with by people that come in expecting to be served. We do our absolute best to be friendly, kind and accommodating. But the reality is animals will ALWAYS come first. Attitudes like the one in this review do not help animals. We are all VOLUNTEERS giving our time and often literal blood, sweat and tears to try to make the world a kinder place for animals.
So if you’ve been asking to visit or wondering why we’ve pulled back on hours at the shop, this is why. If you would like to help, please leave a Google review for us. And please consider adopting Halo, the wonderful spunky bunny I tried to “pawn off” on this person.
UPDATE: Also need volunteers to help unload: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0F4BA9AD28A0FCC07-52668108-urgent
‼️ We urgently need a forklift for unloading pallets of donations in Winston Salem tomorrow morning (10/24). Do you know anyone who can help? We can pay for the time and / or rental. Text 336-310-9201 if you have a lead! 🙏🏼🐾🚜
Marigold is loving life, exploring and getting into baby bunny trouble at her foster home. Share to help her find her family 🥹
We are so happy to see our majestic Dale up and about after a scary illness. He spent almost a week in the hospital at NC State and came home with instructions for lots of TLC. He got his own blanket coat, a comfy spot in the warm garage to sleep, hand feeding and snuggles, and the whole backyard to lounge in. We can tell he’s feeling so much better, but I’m starting to think he’s enjoying the extra attention a little too much to ever want to go back with his goat herd. We’ve offered a couple times to let him visit his friends and he immediately lays down for a rest and refuses to move forward 😂 That’s ok though, he can enjoy the luxuries as long as he wants 🥰

⭐️ The Adoption Shop will be closed today, but you can find us right down the street to meet rabbits! Downtown Kernersville
🥹 This day was made possible by COMMUNITY ❤️ We all want to do something and yet nothing we can do feels like enough. So we chip away at the needs as best we can and try to find ways to encourage people and let them know they are not doing this alone.
🐰 Hope & Theo are safe with us thanks to two volunteers we hadn’t met before today, and an emergency foster who took in 2 other buns to make room for these guys
🥗 Our friends Sister Kitten were surprised with a hearty vegan meal as they were wrapping up their volunteer shifts distributing animal food and supplies to the community (they were so excited and appreciative and said they haven’t had a meal other than granola bars in days)
🥬 Asheville Guinea Pig Rescue & Asheville Bouncing Bunny Rescue were each delivered a cooler filled with fresh veggies + pellets and hay for their rescues and adopters in the community (both are still without power) through the amazing Jenni of Pocket Pet Emporium
📦 All of our donation supplies collected by us, Red Feather Equine Sanctuary and Ziggy's Refuge Farm Sanctuary got organized at our new storage unit (we are so grateful this space was donated to us!) by 8 volunteers who jumped in to help consolidate packages from all over the Triad
I’m sure I’m still forgetting something 😅 We are so tired, but so grateful that we are able to put our heartbreak into action through this wonderful community of people pulling together. See ways you can help at 🔗FairytaleFarm.org
Our thoughts are with our friends in Florida tonight. We pray you all stay safe, but we have a whole army of amazing people who will jump in to help if you need us 🙏🏼❤️
🚨🙏🏼Rescue Mission is Underway for two Rabbits in WNC
The rabbits were left behind after the storm and we just found out about them yesterday through a tag on a Reddit post looking for help. Our volunteers jumped to action and have a rescue chain going today to get them to safety.
We need rabbit fosters & adopters so we can help more! And need your support to get the incoming rescues vetted, spayed & neutered so they can have the life they deserve 💜 > FairytaleFarm.org
UPDATE: We have a plan for transport tomorrow! Will update you all 🙏🏼 We are starting to get a lot of rabbit requests so please reach out if you are interested in fostering or adopting!
‼️URGENT TRANSPORT NEEDED FROM HENDERSONVILLE TO WINSTON-SALEM ‼️
If you can pick these two bunnies in Hendersonville and bring them back to Winston today or tomorrow, please text us 336-310-9201
These bunnies were left behind when their elderly owners were evacuated and they need immediate rescue ❤️
🐰 Lev Update 🩺 The only bad news we got today was that Lev has a bit of an identity crisis (more below). The AMAZING NEWS is that Dr. Spindel evaluated this babe today and gave her a clean bill of health 🥹
Yes, I said “her”…turns out Lev is girl 🎀 This sweet girl who was originally named Ginger, changed to Lev when she was thought to be a boy, then named Pumpkin after finding she’s a girl…but still not sure that fits her. She is one of kind and needs a one of kind name.
Dr. Spindel believes she was born with abnormalities in her skeletal system, but so far she is able to get around very well, is eating and drinking and doing all the things that she should. So for now, we just wait. We are working on a few accommodations to make navigating bunny life easier for her such as multiple shallow food bowls, a water bottle option, and a low entry little box. If she develops any issues or we think she needs to be reevaluated as she gets older, we absolutely will peruse anything to help her live her best pain free life.
Ok, but she’s soooo cute. Pictures are not good enough, you must meet her. What do we think her final name should be??
Thank you to our amazing fosters and for loving HER and going to the vet today 🙏🏼

🚨EMERGENCY ALERT🚨
in Myakka City, FL is in urgent need of assistance as Hurricane Milton approaches. They are directly in the path of the storm and need all hands on deck to secure animals and relocate them to safety.
If you’re nearby and able to help, please reach out to them immediately via Messenger. Any assistance with catching animals and storm prep will be immensely valuable. They need help TODAY to ensure the safety of the animals in their care.
Please SHARE and help spread the word! Let’s rally together and support this sanctuary in their time of need. Thank you!
Our group is doing a $500 match for them today along with many others thank you to your generosity. Please keep the donations coming in so we can continue to help more sanctuaries that are losing everything. We hope to help more afterwards 😭🙏
😭🐰 In the midst of all the work we are doing to get help to our neighbors devastated by flooding in WNC, we still have our own rescue to run and animals to care for.
We receive daily pleas to take animals into rescue and we wish we could always say yes, but we commit to sanctuary or finding a permanent adoptive home for every animal we take in. We have to have space and funds to make sure we can keep that promise. But every once in a while, we get a call so heartbreaking we know we have to move heaven and earth to help 💔
This little we’re calling Lev (meaning lion, heart) was born with an abnormality. His original carer could not keep him and could not find anyone to take him even after posting for free on Facebook 😭
(Please don’t bash this person, you don’t know their circumstances and they were trying to get help.)
We are the only rescue anywhere in the area that works with rabbits and disabled animals, so I knew as soon as I heard the message that we are his only hope.
Thankfully we have two amazing fosters who said yes immediately- one to take him into care and one to take him to his vet evaluation on Monday. We are so worried for him. Rabbits are very fragile, but hide their pain so well. He is so precious and sweet and we want so badly to be able to give him a wonderful life, but we also want to ensure that he’s not suffering. Please send all your good thoughts that we get good news from the vet on Monday 🙏🏼
❤️ TRIAD AREA VOLUNTEERS NEEDED ❤️
We are receiving an outpouring of donated supplies from all over the country. They are desperately needed by people in western North Carolina impacted by the hurricane and flooding. But we need help to better organize the volume of supplies and needs we are receiving. Please register on this quick form if you can help with supply pick ups/drop offs, sorting, loading, storage space, transporting, or coordination -

📌🚨PLEASE READ 🚨 Helene - WNC Resources for Animals ❤️
We are working our hearts out to help our neighbors and the animals impacted by Hurricane Helene flooding. Together with our rescue partners, we have delivered over 40,000 lbs of animal feed, plus generators, gas, animal bedding, hay and emergency supplies. You all have stepped up for the animals of North Carolina and beyond and we are forever grateful. Our small little army just keeps growing and we are literally saving lives because of it.
Our rescues are volunteer based and we are completely overwhelmed with messages and offers of support. If you have not heard back from us, please understand our first priority is getting the supplies that have been delivered to the animals who desperately need them. State agencies are now set up, so please see the photos above and route emergency requests through the appropriate agency so your need is not lost.
We are not stopping. We are here for the long haul collecting supplies and assisting with animal rescues. Please keep loving the animals and people affected by this storm 🫶🏼
We are looking for drop locations for animal feed & supplies in WNC. Central Asheville or multiple points N / S / E / W so people with animals unable to access feed can pick up. Please let us know if you have any leads 🙏🏼 The supplies are too big to be store at the human supply drop points, so we need something separate.
We need an Asheville centrally located warehouse or business with docks and/or forklifts where we can store dog and cat food and other animal supplies coming in on tractor trailers.
Volunteers will need to access the food for distribution.
If you know anyone who owns a business willing to help PLEASE have them text Eric at 503-664-0001.
