Once again, I am so grateful for the community I live in. I had an overwhelming amount of response from so many loving families who wanted to host Isabel. We have found an amazing family for her. Isabel is so lucky that she went from one great family to another ❤️.

Thank you for anyone who reached out, shared my post, or even reached out to people they thought would make a great fit.

My two Exchange students from Spain and Germany. These two, along with their host brother keep their host mom on her toes. But she wouldn't have it any other way ❤️

If you have been wanting to host an exchange student but haven't been able to or missed your chance because you weren't ready, we just got new profiles for students who are looking for host families in January!!!

These students will only be needing a home from January to May! Please contact me if you would like to see profiles and sign up to be one of our amazing volunteer host families ❤️

Just a general FYI post from a Coordinator/Manager/Host Mom...
First...Please remember your student has left everything they know..family/friends/culture/everything that is home, safety and comfort to them...
Coming to live with a family they don't know, a culture that is all foreign to them...including school, friends, food and every day life in general.
Are they scared? Homesick? Having Culture Shock?
Probably yes at least a little bit...there is the honeymoon period and during this time you should try to get to know what their favorites are. Favorite hobbies, food, things to do...so that you can help them thru these rough spots....
They will not be perfect - they are teens.
They will need to adjust to a whole new way of life
They will need time to make friends
They will need time to adjust to school
They will need time to adjust to your family and your way of life.
They will need your love and support....

This doesn't mean you need to let them be disrespectful, mouthy, push the rules and so on...
But in the beginning - right away .. you need to go over your rules and household routines so they know what is expected of them right away...no guessing.

If your agency has an Expectations Worksheet to fill out make sure to do so....these may seem silly to you but your student will benefit from knowing what to expect from you and what they can and cannot do...

Take things one day at a time....and remember to breathe!!

Hosting is an adventure....from beginning to end...make it a fun one!!

Joao had a family who was interested in hosting him but unfortunately the school is full in they're are and they could not host him. Is there anyone in the Ellison High School zone that would love to host Joao?

We had a great first get together of the year last night. Thank you Work With Me for providing us with a wonderful space, games, and art supplies. The kiddos loved painting and playing games.

Marine was selected by a host family to be hosted for three next school year but unfortunately they are unable to host her due to some family problems. Marine has already been notified that she is coming to the states and I am sure she is beyond excited.

Please help me find her home. 🙏

Imagine being told that you've been selected to study aboard just to be told a couple of days later that you're no longer able to go because the host family is unable to host you.

Marine was accepted at Ellison High but we can try to transfer her to a high school in your school district.

As year ends for exchange students, organizers search for more host families Lots of international travel was put off within the last two year. But, now there are more exchange students interested in the program again.

It was so nice seeing the students and host families one last time before school ends and the kids head back to their homes and families.

We are seeking host families for our Exchange Students. ISE has stopped accepting applications for anymore exchange students because we are having a hard time finding host families for our current students.

To become a host family for an exchange student, you definitely have to have a big heart and be just as interested in getting the most out of this experience, as our students are. Our host families are made up of traditional families, non traditional families, empty nesters, single parents, and even singles!!!
