Through the use of five uniquely designed pieces of equipment, GYROTONIC® exercise uses a pulley weight system and low resistance to accommodate any body or injury. Clients range from professional athletes, dancers, rehabilitative therapy, and general exercise.

Here, Nathan (Master Trainer) is working on the client’s back extension and length strength as she elevates herself up in the air by herself, also called the superhero pose. Also known as power balls, the DIY protein packed bites provide healthy fats, whole grain carbohydrates, iron, magnesium, and fiber. The recipe can be dairy free, egg free, gluten free, low calorie, low sodium, low sugar, and cholesterol free, with under half a gram of saturated fat. They are a delicious choice before working out or for a post workout snack. Each power energy bite provides close to four grams of protein!🍪

Ingredients
• 1 cup rolled oats or quick oats
• 1/2 cup peanut butter or allergy friendly sub
• 1/4 cup pure maple syrup or honey or agave
• 1 tbsp chia seeds
• 1/8 tsp salt
• optional handful mini chocolate chips or raisins

Directions
1. If your nut butter is not already soft and easy to stir, gently warm it up in the microwave or on the stove top until easily stirrable.
2. Combine the oats, chia seeds, and salt in a medium mixing bowl. If not heating the peanut butter, you can also add the chocolate chips at this time.
3. Stir in the liquid sweetener and nut butter until everything is evenly mixed.
4. Wait until the mixture is no longer warm to add the chocolate chips, unless you do not mind if they melt a bit.
5. With a mini cookie scoop or spoon, take out small amounts of dough. Press and roll into balls or cookie shapes with your hands.
6. Store leftover energy bites in an airtight covered container on the counter for up to a week, in the refrigerator for up to three weeks, or frozen for three or four months.

**Note: If you are using a dry nut butter, like almond butter or some natural peanut butters, you may need to add a little extra nut butter or liquid sweetener for the texture to resemble an easily scoopable cookie dough instead of a crumbly one.

Sometimes a fancy drink just makes life more enjoyable! Enjoy this recipe as-is (alcohol-free) or add a shot of bourbon or whiskey to make it a cocktail🍹

Ingredients
• 1 bottle of ginger beer
• 6-7 ounces pear nectar
• 1 tablespoon of cinnamon powder (for glass rim)
• 2 tablespoons of white sugar (for glass rim)
• Fresh pear (garnish)
• Mint leaves (optional garnish)
• Cinnamon sticks (optional garnish)

Directions
1. Begin by preparing the glassware. On a small plate, mix white sugar and cinnamon powder. Moisten the rim of each glass with a slice of fresh pear or a bit of water, then gently dip the glass rim into the sugar-cinnamon mixture to coat it. Set the glasses aside.
2. Thinly slice the fresh pear vertically on both sides while keeping the stems.
3. In each prepared glass, add a slice of pear on the side and ice cubes then pour pear nectar to fill half of the glass.
4. Fill the glass almost to the top with ginger beer, add a sprig of mint leaves and a cinnamon stick.
5. Give the mocktail a gentle stir to combine the pear nectar and ginger beer.
6. Serve the Pear Ginger Beer mocktail immediately to enjoy its flavors and aromas.

If you’ve been at the studio on the weekends, then you’ve seen this friendly guy! But in case you haven’t, let us introduce you to our GYROTONIC® Master Trainer and Instructor, Nathan Martin (husband of our beloved sound bowl healer, Esther).

Grandson of a Qi Gong Master and Acupuncturist, Nathan grew up around his grandparent’s Chinese medicine clinic in Hong Kong, exposing himself to alternative medicine and healing arts from a young age. His deep understanding of the body, combined with knowledge of alternative medicine and background in dance have enriched his teaching style and made him a versatile, sought-after trainer in both the U.S. and in Asia.

Nathan is the founder and owner of CAPITAL GYROTONIC® in Washington, D.C. since 2013 and we are thrilled to have him on our team in Kilmarnock on the weekends.

Getting in the Halloween spirit with a little BEETlejuice inspo for mealtime💜

Ingredients
• 4 medium beets, scrubbed and trimmed
• 2 tablespoons olive oil
• Salt and pepper to taste
• 4 cups mixed greens (such as arugula, spinach, or spring mix)
• 4 oz goat cheese, crumbled
• 1/2 cup pistachios, shelled and chopped
• 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
• 1 tablespoon honey, maple syrup, or any sugar-free syrup
• 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

Directions
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
2. Wrap each beet in aluminum foil and put them on a baking sheet.
3. Roast the beets for 45-60 minutes or fork-tender.
4. Once they’re cool, peel the beet and cut them into wedges (if you don’t want to stain your fingers purple, wear gloves for this step).
5. In a small bowl, mix balsamic vinegar, honey, Dijon mustard, and olive oil. Whisk until everything is combined. Add salt and pepper to taste.
6. In a large salad bowl, combine the mixed greens, roasted beet wedges, crumbled goat cheese, and chopped pistachios.
7. Drizzle the salad with the balsamic dressing and toss everything gently to mix.

Makes roughly four servings. This dish is so beautiful and colorful–it’s a wonderful side dish to pair with a simple protein for a delicious meal. Enjoy!
