A quick, fun doodle for your Saturday :)
I’m unsure if it’s an ode to coffee, or color, or daydreaming, or maybe some combination of the above. ☕️🌌🌈
Finding time in this season to just sit and draw for fun is rare. So making things like this, just for kicks, makes me happy. I’m working on mixing textures, illustrating cartoon people, and themes that represent… me.
I’ve got some fun projects to share in the coming weeks. Besides sermon notes(🥰), I haven’t been sharing too much here, so I’m so excited!!!! As always, thanks for following along!
A quick, fun little doodle for your Saturday :)
I’m unsure if it’s an ode to coffee, or daydreaming, or color, or all of the above. ☕️🌌🌈
Happy Thanksgiving! 🦃🍽🍁
(granted, a little late, but songmaps, as I’m so lovingly calling these, sometimes take longer than anticipated😉😩)
Here’s a songmap of Ben Rector’s “Thanksgiving Song,” one of my favorite songs this time of year!
For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39
I hope this small passage brings you some midweek encouragement. Happy Wednesday! 🌈✨
Although technically the day after, this messy little comic felt relatable enough to still share for Valentine’s Day:) any fellow bread lovers!? 🙋♀️
Color!!!!
Happy Valentine’s Day! Here’s a floral twist on a candy heart.. hope you eat so much candy and have a wonderful day celebrating love! 💗
Hey friend: Writing letters is one of my favorite things ever. It lets you think about your words longer than most conversations allow. A while back when thinking about how art allows us to communicate, I started adding small drawings to my letters, both when journaling and to friends.
Social media is such a cool tool, and my question before posting is usually “does this have value?” And I hope this series allows a space for conversation about daily life and what it entails. I’m starting out by using words and pictures pertaining to my life, but if there are things you think yourself or others need a letter about, let me know!
This letter is for the ordinary days, the days that all feel the same. People are always saying “look for the little things,” but sometimes it feels hard to do that. And today’s letter is just a reminder that that’s okay.
I have comfort in today knowing what I achieved maybe wasn’t what I had expected, but it still has value. I have comfort in today knowing I am loved more than is measurable. I have comfort in today because tomorrow brings new things, and whether that be trials and rejoicing, I am able to find blessings.
I wrote and illustrated this one, it’s pretty in line with how I’ve been feeling recently. If you’re feeling tired or overwhelmed, I just want to let you know that there is a big big God who loves you so much, and He is the comfort we find in today and tomorrow.
Something about looking up at the night sky makes me feel so small, and is a reminder that I am loved. You are loved. Goodnight. 🌙
As much as I love snow, this is how I feel approximately all winter. 😅 Also, I might love this pose a little too much... anyways, here’s a fun little doodle for your Tuesday.

2021
Started off the new year watching ‘The Greatest Showman.’ While it is a very fictional portrayal of PT Barnum, it reminded me that he said “comfort is the enemy of progress.” While perhaps not literally true in every sense, I find it to be a motivating thought headed into this brand new year.
Truth be told, I am always afraid putting art out into the world, whether just to show or to sell. My goal this year is to step outside of that comfort zone more. I took a social media break towards the end of 2020. While refreshing and comfortable:) I want my art to be a bigger part of my daily life. And that means sharing it, not just making it.
Thanks for being along for the journey, highs and lows. I’d love to hear your New Year’s Resolutions, if you have them. If not, Happy New Years. Here’s to 2021!
How pretty is .adaline in her cute jacket?! These are so fun to put together and paint and I have a few slots available! dm me or head to my website to claim!🤍 Happy Monday!
Here’s the next piece I made inspired by Joni Eareckson Tada, from a little later in her life.
One of the biggest takeaways from her book is that her peace was found not in her circumstances. Trying to take that with me always. Happy Wednesday!
I am praying that the Lord will do something in my life to show me it has meaning -Joni Eareckson Tada
I mentioned in my ‘about me’ post that my dream is to tell stories through my art. I just finished reading about Joni Eareckson. Her book y’all- an unfiltered story touching on doubt and uncertainty in faith and life. I can’t recommend it enough, especially if like me you’re a big “questioner.”
I took this palette from a picture of Joni, and I hope this quote brings you a little peace on this Monday.
Cute lil Friday graphic because spooky season is so soon! Ready for all the 🌻🍁🍂🕸🕷👽🌤🍵 vibes. Be sure to follow me on Instagram to enter my giveaway with the super talented Made By Blakely , which closes Monday! Hope you’ve had a great week!
Though not technically fall, let’s ring in September with an autumn bouquet featuring pumpkins!!! I feel like fall is all about reds, oranges, and yellows, but I love the blue greens in this piece along with the fall vines and flowers. I’m a big summer person, but I sure am ready for fall:) Happy Thursday!
SHOP IS LIVE!!

My September 1st site launch is coming up so soon!
Next Tuesday postcards are launching, and a few new things are headed to ashleygaildesigns.com !! The first is an official portfolio— you can see the things I’ve created for others from start to finish.
The second is a my process page, which answers a lot of faqs, but also helps to demonstrate the way custom illustrations work. I would love to help tell your story too! Illustrating your ideas and watching them come alive with fun projects is one of the coolest things ever!
And of course I used a food illustration, because pie!🥰🥰🥰 have a wonderful weekend!
People?! I never draw them because they’re hard to draw. I mess up the face, the proportions, the pose, the eyes. But here we are, and it turns out they’re so fun!
I really love my cartoon person here. She’s in a garden I drew inspired by the plants outside my grandma’s window(grandma’s a plant wizard, I am definitely not...) She’s excited about something, and she has cute shoes:)
This garden, the girl, the funky font with cool flourishes shows me my art style is forever changing and growing, and just because former me made something “now me” wouldn’t make, that doesn’t mean it’s bad. Artists, ya feel me?! I’m working on my site, I’m working on my art, I’m forever learning.
I hope this pandemic has helped you grow as a person. Let’s all come out with gardens. Happy Wednesday!
Happy Monday! Guess what?! I showed y’all the design but...... these are official postcards now! Printed and ready to go, they will be added to the site relaunch September 1st! They are great quality and are ready to send once you get them!!! I’m obsessed with the texture on these and seriously can’t wait to send them out to my people☺️🤩😊
Football season starts today for my high school, so I made some football bouquets featuring the school colors of our regional high schools. I made these during the summer, so I didn’t know if I’d even get to post them this year. If you zoom in, you can see baby footballs, pompoms, goal posts, and little X and Os!!! Happy Friday and best of luck teams!
There are a few new faces around here(YAY I’m so happy you’re here!) I guess this is called but that feels so formal...
Hey there! I’m Ashley.
I love Jesus and I hope you can see that in everything I make! I’ve been so super blessed with the greatest family ever, and together we’ve been to all fifty states.
I also love satirical articles, my car “Dwayne the Rock Johnson,” conspiracy theories, wide leg pants, chacos, all kinds of music, big cities, and food(especially food that is bad for me). I love making people laugh, and apparently I’m a 3w2 on the enneagram. I could spend hours and hours learning about history, and I’m fascinated by how people’s lives shape them. I am also obsessed with the art of storytelling and how many forms that can take— songs, literature, art, theater, film, dance, clothes, etc. I’m inspired by the past and what we can learn from storytelling. My dream is to tell people’s stories through my art:)
Thank you for following me on this journey, and don’t worry, we’ll get back to the art soon, I promise🙃
Much love, Ashley:)
Hi + welcome!
Later this week I’ll be doing a , but I am working on updating the shop currently and I wanted to pop in and say thank you! It’s been about a year since I started this exciting adventure, and you all have continued to support and invest in my art. This year I started , made my first products, sold them at markets, won the Kingsport Chamber “best presentation/creativity,” got involved with the art community, discovered amazing books and podcasts, made online artist friends, and did countless custom projects. None of this would have been possible without your support, and as I start another year with new products coming and an updated shop soon, I wanted to say thank you again! Happy Monday y’all!🥰
Good morning! I took the brand colors from Starbucks and used it to make a breakfast table setting:)
I was trying to think of ways to showcase “ads” I could make, and I thought I’d try to design a gift card. This isn’t gift card sized at all, but it would make a cute poster or mural. I took the brand colors(the pinks and greens you see) and used them to design a piece encompassing coffee, my favorite breakfast foods, and flowers. I added the phrase “wake up and smell the coffee” because it’s a cute slogan and a well known phrase.
This piece took a lot of time to lay out, and I spent so much time on the detail and shadow of the food. I love designing table settings(both in real life and illustrations), so this is a passion project I’m definitely going to continue doing. Happy Saturday!
I painted my first denim jacket recently!!! ( thanks )
I am so excited to announce this will be coming to the shop soon. I love the white bridal ones but I will be adding colorful custom ones as well.
This was so much fun to paint and it will be the perfect addition for the bride’s big day! I love the details on the sleeve 🙂 happy Thursday!
I went back to school(virtually) today, and it feels so strange to be a senior.
I made this bouquet to commemorate that. I’m such a big fan of flowers and I loved incorporating them with a ‘back to school’ theme. I actually made this piece during the summer, but I love that it includes school elements. Stay tuned for some more bouquets, these are my favorite!!! Happy Monday, and if you’re returning to school, best of luck!
I was thinking about how much I loved to draw food and flowers and this piece came to be. It’s a good day for a picnic today too:)
key lime, lemonade, apples, peaches, sandwiches, flowers, all the summery things— but true picnics need pizza if you ask me🍕🍕🍕
I hope you have a great Friday, and maybe a super fun picnic too!☺️ Let me know if you think just the words would make a cute sticker!

About Me
My name is Ashley and I am a letterer/illustrator based out of Kingsport, TN!
About two years ago I realized God had given me talent and passion in both music and art. Since then, I’ve been traveling to attend competitions, parades, and trips for marching band. In order to raise money for these trips, I started selling my designs and letters…
And boom!! That is when Ashley Gail Designs came into being.
This year, I am marching in both the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade and the Rose Bowl Parade. These are arguably two of the most watched parades in the U.S., and I am so excited to be a part of them. 100% of the proceeds from my designs go to those trips and to paying to continue creating.
