Salary information:
(2023 rates below- Increases in 2024 and 2025)

Academy Rate-$55,018.14
Starting Rate (after graduation)- $61,131.02
After 1 year- $64,475.79
After 2 years- $73,604.57
After 3 years- $76,445.74
After 4 years- $77,995.41
After 5 years- $83,160.43

Longevity Pay:
7-9 years- 3% above base pay
10-12 years- 3.75% above base pay
13-15 years- 4.50% above base pay
16-17 years- 5.50% above base pay
18 and above- 6.50% above base pay

Education Incentives:
Associate's degree- 1.5% above base pay
Bachelor's degree- 2.5% above base pay
Master's degree- 3.5% above base pay

The City of Kingston Police Department encourages officers to further their education and will reimburse costs associated with getting degrees (associates, bachelors, and masters) in criminal justice. Contact us for more information.

Yearly Uniform Allowance:
$1,150.00

Supplemental day (holidays):
14 paid days (16 for veterans)per year

Vacation days:
1-5 years- 15 Paid vacation
5-10 years- 22 Paid vacation
10 years and above- 27 Paid Vacation

Personal Leave days:

Work Schedule: (Uniformed patrol officers)
8 hour shifts
7 days on, 3 days off (Tues/Wed/Thurs), 7 days on, 4 days off (Fri/Sat/Sun/Mon)
Shift assignment determined by seniority

The City of Kingston and Saugerties Police Departments are co-hosting a 3 week Course in Police Supervision. Any inquiries regarding this course should be directed to Off Shuman of the Kingston Police Department or Lt Swart of the Saugerties Police Department.

Yesterday afternoon PT Instructor Rob Jakatis challenged Platoon 73 to their first run of the Walkill Rail Trail. They accepted and successfully completed. Congratulations Platoon 73!!

Today Platoon 73 completed one week of training receiving instruction on Physical Fitness and Officer Wellness, completing the day with their first PT test.

The class was not in session, however, these recruits showed up on their own time to show support for their community.
