The EMOTION associated with this season is the emotions of overthinking and WORRY. When out of balance WORRY can wreak havoc.

Solutions for Late Summer’s Worry
(and digestion):

Keep busy. If your mind is occupied on something productive, the overactive thinking subsides. Find a hobby you enjoy and put forth all your energy into it. Read, paint, teach – whatever you do, let it help bring creative energy flowing throughout your being.
Consider creating structure around that which you are fixating on. Worried about money? Make a budget. Overthinking food choices? Create a simple structure such as no added sugars this month or booze only on the weekends. Eliminate overthinking by putting structure in place for you.
Get in touch with nature. Too often we are busy in our daily routines that we lose sight of our deep connection to Nature and Spirit. Take some time each day to walk in Nature.
Reframe and breathe. When you come to a worrisome situation, take a step back and breathe deeply. Try to look at the situation from a different perspective. Find a reason to smile.
Notice what you’re ingesting. Not just in the foods that you eat, but in all that you are experience. Ask…”does this serve?” Try to connect with people, media, experiences and senses that serve you well during this season.

Why SPF?

I recently took the Eminence training on the two new SPF moisturizers. It was a great insight into the new stats on how sun damage works.

If you haven't heard, Eminence Organic Skincare recently launched a tinted SPF for all skin types and transparent enough for Fitzpatrick Skin types 1- 6 and the other an SPF made for normal to dry skin with retinol alternative and niacinamide for moisture.
It was a great recap on why we need SPF and what's new in the world of Sun damage.

So what is the sun doing to your skin that makes it age?
It creates oxidative stress (a condition that occurs when there are too many unstable molecules called free radicals in the body and not enough antioxidants to get rid of them)
Damage to elastin, collagen, hyaluronic acid barrier dysfunction, and damage to your DNA
and this leads to wrinkles, unwanted pigmentation, rough and dry texture, spider veins, ruddiness and sagging skin.

UV RAYS

UV-A - The "Aging" UV - this UV penetrates into the dermis
UV-B - The "Burning" UV - this UV penetrates into the epidermis
UV-C - The "Cancer" UV - our ozone still is strong enough to protect us against this UV

The latest is worry about blue light. This is the light emitted from your computer, phone and electronic screens.
This light mimics UV-A Rays.

So whether your inside or outside you are getting hit with variations of UV's all the time.

So where do we go from here?

All of Eminence's SPF products are broad spectrum (means it blocks UVA & UVB) uses NON-Nano Zinc. This means the zinc molecule is large enough to stay on top of the skin so as to reflect the rays away from your skin. SILICONE FREE!! If you've ever used an SPF product that has that glossy look it most likely has silicone in it. Silicone blocks excretions, secretions, & normal cell turnover. Can lead to breakouts and damages the environment.

How’s your skin doing this week?

It’s summer solstice week ☀️ and with that we officially begin our Summer Support Skin and body treatments.
🌞 Tips & tricks … remember that hyperpigmentation isn’t just affected by UV it’s exacerbated by heat. Summer acne can be a sign of internal heat and inflammation. So stay COOL 😎. Take a cool shower, put your skin products in the fridge, drink some peppermint tea. Maybe put the spicy foods on the back burner for now. If I’m going out for a 🚴 bike ride, I like to put a little peppermint essential oil on the back of my neck. It also helps keep the bugs away.

🐠 Don’t forget to EXFOLIATE! The exfoliation doesn’t have to be extreme, but a nice gentle exfoliation every day or every other day will help remove the dead skin buildup keeping your skin able to breath and ready to absorb all the healing products it’s craving. DON’T over do it!! I know “glass skin” is in but be careful. Over exfoliating can lead to fragility in the skin barrier and you become more prone to long term issues that may need to be corrected.
