Thank you to everyone who has donated - either online or off - to get us all the way to $9,200!! If you haven't yet contributed, please consider doing so today. Whether you have a little or a lot to share, every dollar helps! Your donation will help Kirkland Preschool continue to provide wonderful learning experiences for the children of our community. Kirkland Preschool is a self-supporting nonprofit school, meaning that we do not have the financial backing & other resources available to other preschools that operate under religious, corporate, or other sponsoring agencies. We pay all our own bills, including classroom supplies, building repairs & updates, yard maintenance, staff salaries, utilities, insurance, cleaning, & much more. To do all of this while striving to keep quality education affordable for all families, we have made the decision to rely on fundraising from our community rather than increasing our tuition to sky-high rates. Even though the economy has shown some growth, we know from firsthand experience that budgets for many young families are still tight.

Kirkland Preschool is excited to announce our 2022 online fundraising campaign!!
While we are eager to return to our past annual gala auction format, it still just seems too soon to gather in-person, considering that the majority of our students can't yet receive COVID vaccines. Instead, we are launching a Mightycause Donation Campaign & we need your help to raise $10,000 before May 15th!

Please feel free to share that we are currently enrolling for Winter Admission 2022 for almost-3's to definitely-3's in our Tuesday and Thursday enriching morning class.
Students benefit from play-based social learning, projects that engage small and large motor skills, and lively movement throughout the class. We emphasize and encourage each student to listen to others, express their own feelings and experiences, follow directions, build confidence, and all while focusing on a three-week topic like dinosaurs or community safety!
We also work with students to develop an understanding of letters and numbers through these play-based activities. Masks and other precautions in accordance with the state are required for this class.

Here's an adorable example of the Sloth art project sent home to MWF students in their art bags. This project correlated with today's virtual story time with Teacher Lindsay reading, "Slowly, Slowly, Slowly, Said the Sloth" by Eric Carle. Story time is always great on a rainy day! Share your pictures of at home art projects. We'd love to see them!

"Some people think only intellect counts — knowing how to solve problems, knowing how to get by, knowing how to identify an advantage and seize it. But the functions of intellect are insufficient without courage, love, friendship, compassion, and empathy."

KP Friends-- this just came from a alum who lives near the school:
"Kirkland friends, BE AWARE and on the look out for a Black four door Lexus, mid 90s License Plate AJK7548 with a 50yr or so old white female with red shoulder length hair. Also for a gold Lexus, License Plate AHJ4048 with a 6'2" white male, grey hair and glasses early 50s and slender build. Have reported them to the Kirkland Police Department and they are stalking houses to rob. Just saw the black Lexus out front of my house in the East of Market Neighborhood and called the police. The Police are very aware of these two. Please, keep your eyes peeled and be aware - lock doors, and set alarms when you leave!"
From our director, Carolyn about our auction last Friday night:
"What a fun and successful evening! To paraphrase the Welcome at last night’s auction, our community is made up of our current families, grandparents and everyone who surround the children; past families (some of whom are now sending the new generation of children!); our staff; and friends in our community who just want to help all children feel successful and love school.
Everyone came together to support our school with tremendous generosity. A very sincere Thank You to all – to those who came last night, to those who helped set up the event or stayed to clean up, to those who contributed such great items, to those who donated money, to those who asked favorite businesses to donate, to those who cheered us on. As announced at the end of the auction, we made about $14,000, to benefit our scholarship program, start our Paint the Buildings fund, and allow us some needed improvements.
This is so incredibly generous! Thank you!"
By request, here is the poem shared at our auction last weekend:
Can I Carry You?
by Brad Anderson
I guess that I can hold you, one more time before you grow.
And tell you that I love you, so that you will always know.
Please let me tie your shoe again. One day you'll tie your own.
And when you think back to this time, I hope it's love I've shown.
Can I help you put your coat on? Can I please cut up your meat?
Can I pull you in the wagon? Can I pick you out a treat?
One day you might just care for me, so let me care for you.
I want to be a part of every little thing you do.
Tonight could I please wash your hair? Can I put toys in the bath?
Can I help you count your small ten toes, before I teach you math?
Before you join a baseball team, can I pitch you one more ball?
And one more time can I stand near, to make sure you don't fall?
Let's take another space-ship ride, Up to the Planet Zoor.
Before our Cardboard Rocket doesn't fit us anymore.
Please let me help you up the hill, while you're still too small to climb.
And let me read you stories, while you're young and have the time.
I know the day will come, when you will do these things alone.
Will you recall the shoulder rides, and all the balls we've thrown?
I want you to grow stronger, than your Mom & Dad could ever be.
And when you find success, there will be no soul more proud than we.
So will you let me carry you?, One day you'll walk alone.
I cannot bear to miss one day, from now until you've grown.
It's not too late to register for our upcoming dinner auction on Feb 6th at the Kirkland Eagles Club! Call us to make your reservations! 425-822-4450
