The exaggerated confidence given to the FODMAP diet, that it has the ability to favorably alter the intestinal microbiota, starve out organisms, or alter the immune system by reducing histamines, for example, are unfounded in the literature. The diet is being misrepresented across publications, by practitioners and over social media, and in chat rooms.

INGREDIENTS
2 tablespoon Coconut Oil
1 tablespoon Smoked Paprika
0.13 teaspoon Sea Salt
0.13 teaspoon Freshly Ground Pepper
4 large Kale, organic kale leaves

INSTRUCTIONS
Preheat the oven to 350ºF. Thoroughly wash the kale leaves. Pat dry. Remove the tough inner stem and stalk and discard. Cut the leaves into pieces. Place in a large bowl. Melt the coconut oil and drizzle over the leaves. Sprinkle with the smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Stir well to coat evenly. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper. Evenly spread the leaves over the sheets so they’re not crowding each other. Place in the oven and cook for 20-30 minutes, until crispy and dried out. Remove and cool. Store in an airtight container. They will keep for several days.

Fire Roasted Tomato Chicken Soup

INGREDIENTS
1 tablespoon Virgin Coconut Oil
2 pinch Asafoetida, gluten free
1 Whole Organic Chicken, (about 4 pounds), cut into pieces (including the back)
1 tablespoon Sea Salt
2 can Fire-Roasted Tomatoes, 28 oz cans,(muir glen)
6 cup Bone Broth
6 Carrots, roughly chopped
1 medium Celeriac, root, peeled, chopped into 1” pieces
1 stalk Fresh Lemon Grass, cut in half
5 sprig Fresh Parsley, finely chopped
4 sprig Fresh Thyme
0.75 teaspoon Pepper, ground,(to taste)
2 tablespoon White Wine Vinegar
2 Green Onion, finely chopped (green part only)
INSTRUCTIONS
In large stock pot, heat to medium heat, add 1 T coconut oil and 1-2 small pinches of Gluten Free Asafoetida. Sauté 2-3 minutes, until you smell garlic and onion aroma. Add chicken and 1 T sea salt to stockpot with fire roasted tomatoes and bone broth. Slowly bring to a boil, reduce to simmer, partially covered, for 30 minutes. Remove chicken breast only, and set aside. Add carrots, celeriac root, lemon grass, parsley, pepper, thyme and vinegar. Simmer, partially covered, for 40 minutes. Remove remaining chicken; discard back and wings. Let cool slightly. Remove meat from bones, and cut into bite-size pieces. Remove sprigs of thyme and discard. Stir in desired amount of chicken; reserve the rest for another use. Season with salt. Garnish with green onions, chopped fine (green parts only)
Notes: We recommend Herb Stop gluten free asafoetida. Feel free to replace bone broth with equal amounts of water or low FODMAP broth. Recipe by Angela Pifer, Gut Rx Guru Founder.

New Recipe Alert!!! GutRx Pesto Shrimp Lettuce Wraps

INGREDIENTS
0.13 cup Pine Nuts, toasted
0.25 cup Green Onion, green part only
1.5 cup Fresh Basil Leaves
0.25 cup Olive Oil
0.5 teaspoon Sea Salt
0.5 teaspoon Freshly Ground Pepper
1 Lemon, juiced
1 Red Bell Pepper, thinly sliced
1 can Water Chestnuts, drained, thinly sliced
1 bunch Green Onion, thinly sliced (green parts only)
2 tablespoon Coconut Oil
2 pound Shrimp, deshelled
1 head Boston (Butter) Lettuce, washed

INSTRUCTIONS
To make the pesto… blend pine nuts, basil, green onion, olive oil, pinch of sea salt, pepper and ¼ lemon juiced. Taste and adjust flavor with more salt, pepper and lemon, as needed. Prep the fresh vegetables… thinly slice the red bell pepper, water chestnuts, and green onions (green part only). Set aside. To make the shrimp… heat a large skillet on medium high with coconut oil. Season shrimp with 1/8 teaspoon of salt, and sauté in coconut oil for about 3 minutes; cooked but still tender. Stir in 3 tablespoons of the Basil Pine Nut Pesto and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes. Remove the shrimp from heat, and stir in an additional 1 Tablespoon of pesto. Serve with fresh squeezed lemon juice and garnish with fresh basil leaves. To serve: you may wrap these up however you like, layering the shrimp, fresh vegetables and pesto.
Tips: You may replace the pine nuts with walnuts or macadamia nuts, or you may omit the nuts altogether. The pesto will last up to five days sealed tight in the fridge.Recipe by Angela Pifer, Gut Rx Guru Founder.

1 Orange, naval
1 Lemon
1 Lime
1 pinch Sea Salt
0.5 cup Water, (sparkling water can be used too)
6 Ice Cubes
INSTRUCTIONS
Juice the orange, lemon, and lime with a citrus juicer and add the fresh juice to a glass (makes about ½ cup). Then add the salt and additional water. Stir well to combine. Add ice cubes, a straw, and enjoy!
Note: The total fluid volume of this beverage is only ~ 12oz (if the ice cubes are melted). Therefore, you may need to hydrate with more fluid post-workout to make up total fluid losses. Recipe by Selva Wohlgemuth, Gut Rx Guru Founder.

2 tablespoon Balsamic Vinegar
1.5 tablespoon Maple Syrup
0.13 teaspoon Salt
1 tablespoon Olive Oil
INSTRUCTIONS
Heat a small sauce pan on high heat with balsamic vinegar, maple syrup, salt, and olive oil. Stir until reduced and bubbling. Serve with lamb or any red meat.
Notes: Balsamic vinegar is acceptable up to 1 tablespoon per serving. It is advised to only consume in small amounts. Recipe by Indigo Mathewson, Guest Guru.
