Happy Juneteenth! The day of “Freedom” . As we remember the goal which includes removal of the physical shackles I’d also like to place emphasis on the removal of mental shackles caused by the post slavery colonization of birth. And more recently the government’s idea to control our bodies as well. Vote YES on to reclaim/maintain our freedoms

When it comes to recommending rice cereal...fulllll stop.

Please stop recommending rice cereal in bottles. Why?
- Inconsistent flow each time you make it
- Increased risk of choking
- Makes your baby work even harder to eat
- No research to support " sleeping better'
- Irritating to the GI system
- Boring, bland, and gross
- Arsenic levels

If you are a provider, and you want to help the family... please consider a referral for a comprehensive feeding evaluation. HINT: We provide great one's ;)

If you are a parent, and want to help your baby... let's connect. Rice cereal is not your only option to restful nights nor is it your only option for decrease in reflux or increase in comfort.

💜Lanieyah was a doula and birth justice organizer at the Southern Birth Justice Network, NBMA’s parent organization. She was an aspiring student midwife who passionately believed in the rights and voices of young mothers of color and left an indelible mark on the communities she served across the Miami, Florida area. She was a proud single, young mother of four resilient children, beloved daughter, and devoted and loving friend to many. The goal of this scholarship is to continue to serve the population she so passionately cared and advocated for.
