August is National Immunization Awareness Month! Did you know that adults 65 years or older are at increased risk for pneumococcal disease? According to data from the 2019 Tennessee Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS), approximately 73% of Tennessee adult residents aged 65+ have never had a pneumococcal vaccine. Vaccines, like the polio vaccine, continue to keep us safe from illnesses that still plague other parts of the world.

Carter County’s Back to School Bash is ALWAYS a huge blessing to the community! Save the date for this fantastic event!!

Last week our team gathered at the beautiful Montgomery Bell State Park for our spring summit.

The 3 days were packed full of learning different problem-solving strategies, sharing ideas, and learning about additional resources available across the state of Tennessee.

Our nurses cover all 95 counties across Tennessee. We’ve done some amazing things to bring awareness to routine immunizations including: participating in community events, setting up immunization clinics, doing education sessions among SO many different population groups (children of all ages, adults of all ages, and even healthcare workers), reviewing immunization records at schools and health clinics, help providers begin to offer additional vaccines, help providers gain access to the state immunization registry, and so much more.
