I'm happy to announce I'll be giving recitals and master classes in both Chennai at KMMC and Bangalore at The Bangalore Conservatory the week of January 9th, 2023!

I had a lovely time performing the "Flower Duet" from Lakmé with soprano Victoria Smith at the BSU Opera Gala this past weekend.

My first faculty recital at Ball State University is Sunday, September 26th at 7:30pm EDT. The balcony will be open for those who want to physically distance. There will be a live stream (in real time only). Scroll down to find the link.

Cynthia L. Smith (mezzo-soprano) has performed recitals in the United States, Austria, India, and Switzerland. She has sung with Asheville Lyric Opera, Ball State Opera Theatre, Knoxville Opera, Marble City Opera, and Tennessee Tech Opera and Musical Theatre. Dr. Smith's favorite operatic performances include singing the roles of Donna Ribalda in P.D.Q Bach's "The Stoned Guest" and Dido in "Dido and Aeneas."

In addition to performance, Dr. Smith is a researcher of music related to the Holocaust. As part of this research, she was awarded with a The Fulbright Program US Student Award, where she studied the Theresienstadt compositions of Viktor Ullmann in Basel, Switzerland.

From 2014-2018, Dr. Smith taught Western-classical music at KM Music Conservatory in Chennai, India. Her students successfully perform and study at a national level in India, the United States, and the United Kingdom. Having relocated to the United States from India, Dr. Smith teaches voice and music classes through LeGrand Music Studios and Outschool, edits for the online magazine Modern Singer, and performs as a soloist and professional chorister in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Dr. Smith received her Doctor of Arts from Ball State University (vocal performance) in 2014.
