'I'm just desperate': Family searches for affordable care before assisted living closes Laura Towe is struggling to find affordable care for her mother, Shirley Wright, a 78-year-old cancer survivor and TennCare CHOICES resident.

Renaissance Terrace’s closure creating challenges for some low-income families CEO Tim Howell told WVLT News Monday, most residents have found placement, while nine others are facing some challenges.

Knoxville is losing an affordable care residential option for seniors. Faced with increasing costs and state reluctance to change reimbursement policies, Renaissance Terrace Assisted Living is closing its doors April 15 and selling the building. The facility will help the 45 current senior residents find other housing.

My friend's neighbor is older and lives alone so my friend gave the neighbor 3 colored pieces of paper for her window which faces their kitchen window.

Green is for I'm OK and is taken down every evening and put back up in the morning. Yellow means the neighbor needs help with an errand, and red means contact me quickly, I need to talk.
If the paper doesn't appear in the window at all, they know to check on the neighbor immediately.

They call it Isolation Communication 🙂
