So I have an interesting story to share with you. It’s kind of a head trip, time warp and an unexpected but cool surprise. Our feelings about this album have always been a bit complicated due to the label (Century Media Records) we were signed to and the two women who were in our band at this time. Both of which we haven’t spoken to in 20 years.

Recently, we were contacted by someone who runs an independent label that specializes in limited run vinyl releases. He kindly let us know that he had licensed our 2003 album “The Horror Of Beauty” from our former label and had released it on his imprint Brutal Planet Records. Needless to say, we were shocked to find this out but also intrigued. We are now having conversations with him about releasing our other My Ruin albums on vinyl (& CD) through us directly which is something so many of you have asked us about over the last 10+ years. All of which have never been released on vinyl including our last 2 which were only available digitally.

That said, this is a real treat for us as well as old school fans of our metal band. Mick & I were just sent our copies of the newly remastered album which looks & sounds killer, so for those of you who love this record as much as we do and want to add it to your music collection, you can purchase it now on rad blood moon red vinyl here:

This Christmas Eve, Mick Murphy & I will be celebrating our 15 year wedding anniversary. Tomorrow, 𝐃𝐞𝐜𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟏𝟓𝐭𝐡 we will be releasing our our debut double album 𝐕𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐓𝐫𝐮𝐥𝐲 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬 from our new rock project S W T E V L

When we put My Ruin on a hiatus after our last U.K. tour in 2014 it felt like a death and in many ways, it was. Dealing with so many shady characters behind the scenes in the music industry (and sometimes in our own band) really took a toll on us mentally. Especially me. All things considered, I did not envision recording another brutal screaming metal album and Mick agreed.
During the pandemic the world was thrown into chaos. It felt like everyone was dying, living in fear of Covid, feeling anxiety & depressed, including us. Thankfully we never got sick but we knew many who did and/or lost loved ones. After years of speaking out in political rants, interacting with friends & fans of our music etc...I could barely bring myself to post on social media so I disappeared for long stretches of time focusing on my real life off the internet and became a much more reclusive, private person. I still struggle with social media so please forgive me for not being witty. Pun intended.

When Mick & I decided to slowly go back into the studio during the pandemic, we knew we wanted to do something a bit different so we took our time. Over the years we have talked about doing a rock album that made us feel the way we felt when we listened to certain (non metal) bands we both love. We pulled out old mix cd's we made each other and got inspired. Writing & recording this new album has truly been a rebirth for us. An escape from the weight of the world. Something we all need at the moment. We hope the love & attention to detail we've put into these 20 songs comes across and you enjoy listening to it as much as we enjoyed creating it.
The new (official) video for 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐜𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐦𝐞 is also coming tomorrow along with the album release which we hope you check out & share.

Named after our favorite 𝐃𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫 album from 1977, 𝐒𝐖𝐓𝐄𝐕𝐋 (𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐝 "𝐒𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐭 𝐄𝐯𝐢𝐥") doesn't spell the end of a musical relationship but rather the beginning of a new one as we move brazenly into our next chapter, without apology.
