Hierarchy Advertising

We’re an independent, full-service advertising agency focused on growing businesses and differentiating brands. The story you share. The problem you solve.

The world you make possible. With the right ex*****on, advertising can be brilliant. That’s where we come in. With soul, sweat and our never-ending pursuit of what’s next, we build the unforgettable. We uncover truth and tell the untold. We put brands first – and by doing so, we make them last.

Picture this: you get to work with some of the most amazing clients around, including a world-class marketing team, professors, and students to bring together a TV spot that celebrates the support and success Lone Star College brings to Houston every day. Oh, and while you’re at it, you have more than just a little bit of fun.

Check out our BTS of our ‘Picture This’ video shoot and be on the lookout for our series of spots around town and at the 2024 Olympics.

Whenever. Wherever. That is how Rockwell American Services shows up for any disaster. And when they need to show their industry what they’re capable of, Hierarchy shows up the same way.

Our chili was hot, but apparently, our spirits (and Jell-O shots) were hotter. We had an amazing time helping raise money for the Dwight Douthit Scholarship Fun at Ad2 Houston’s Chili Cookoff last weekend and were honored to receive this year’s Spirit Award. We always knew we were the personality pick.

Camera in one hand, stiff drink in the other. Meet our Executive Creative Director Thomas Guerrero.

When not concepting or directing, you can find him in his studio shooting soon-to-be icons, adding another piece to his mural of tattoos, or donating his time and talent to local businesses in support of his community and thousands of friends.

And as these friends (and we) know, working with Thomas means getting front row for a slideshow of photos from when he peaked in high school wrestling, being brought an antique he found on the side of the road that reminded him of you, and always having someone who’s got your back with the creative guidance and quick wits to bring any idea to life.

To celebrate T, comment your favorite mid-day sweet (because lunch dessert is always a must)

Welcome to Hierarchy Hot Takes, where we’re bringing our agency’s biggest quarrels, quips, and questions to you. Some may spark heated discussions, others full-blown meltdowns, but no matter what, we promise they’ll be hot.

Up first: Could you tell the difference between different diet colas?

We lined up Coke, Diet Coke, Coke Zero, Diet Pepsi, and HEB Brand Diet Cola in a blind taste test to challenge our Diet Coke loyalists’ loyalty. So watch our team sip it out and comment below how many you think you could get.

When the Missouri-based brewery Many Good Things came to Hierarchy looking for branding for their line of house-brewed seltzers, we delivered what we always do for their new brews: a full strategy including naming, design, and packaging that let everyone know this was a drink made for wasting the day away in the best of ways.

So crack open a can and swipe through the see the lineup of Addy-award-winning designs and check out to untap more of our work.

It was a golden evening for Hierarchy at this year’s American Advertising Awards in Houston, bringing home 2 Best in Shows, 17 Golds, and a handful of silvers for our work with Houston Grand Opera, AAF-Houston Student Conference, Permission Whiskey & Service Co., Lone Star College, and Many Good Things Brewing. It is always an honor to be recognized by an ad community we are so proud to be a part of, but at the end of the day, we know none of this would be possible without our incredible clients and the impacts we make together.

We could sit here and brag about our team all day, but we’re always ones to let our work speak for itself. So head to hierarchyadvertising.com to check out the award winners.

As over 70,000 people gear up to watch the University of Washington and the University of Michigan take it to the field for the College Football Playoffs National Championship, we at Hierarchy are honored to have helped bring the game to Houston. Through our work with Houston Sports Authority’s bidding committee, we had the opportunity to help the Bayou City win the final bid to host the national game at NRG. So, whether you’re in the stands or catching the game on the big screen, look out for CFP’s iconic football encapsulated in the Lone Star State and know that it’s Hierarchy’s stars that helped make it happen for Houston.

Change is inevitable. Some run from it, others embrace it. We chose to grab it by the brand.

So, let us reintroduce ourselves. We are Hierarchy. A bolder, smarter, and more collaborative way of advertising. And you can always find us at the new HierarchyAdvertising.com

Came for the people, stayed for the food. Here’s to juicy Turkey, good wine, and a team that keeps us thankful(l) today and all year long.

If we told you we’re cycling from Houston to Galveston, would you believe us? Well, some of us are. And some of us will be cheering on our team and refueling riders to the finish line. But all of us will be a part of our first Bike Around the Bay in support of the Galveston Bay Foundation, who dedicates their time and money to preservation and conservation of our local beaches. If you’d like to support the team from the mainland, you can head to the link in our bio to check out our page and help us reach our fundraising goal.

Sure, these songs are great. Iconic, even. But no one wants to be a one-hit wonder.

We know that with some fresh ideas and strategic creative, these artists could have had full albums worth playing on repeat. Don’t miss your chance to be a star by getting a brand partner who helps you reach your full potential (we recommend us 😉).

In the meantime, head to the link in our bio to celebrate National One-Hit Wonder Day and comment your favorite hit below.

Awards season has come to a close, and we officially have some new hardware in the Hierarchy house. These two district golds will shine next to the 16 local Addys we picked up in February. As good as they look in our office, we know none of it would be possible without our incredible partners who help us create stand-out work year after year. Cheers to our entire team and we’ll see you all at the shows next year!

During pride month, we wanted to put our money where our support is by donating to one of the many local organizations that uplift Houston’s LGBTQ community. This year we chose to donate to the Montrose Center, an organization that provides behavioral health care, primary care, psychiatric care, anti-violence resources, gender-affirming healthcare, and much more to our city.

We invite you to join us in celebrating pride month by supporting this incredible organization.

The curtain is rising soon on the 2023-24 Houston Grand Opera season, and we are so honored to help bring the voice of truth to light through this season’s artwork, brochure, official launch video, and more. With striking visuals, collage-style imagery, and powerful copy - we invited HGO’s audience to submit themselves to the opera and let the truth be told.

Seven months, three commercials, one Lone Star College. From tapping into the feelings of the first day of school to listening when the world is trying to tell you something - Hierarchy worked alongside LSC to recruit world-class professors, launch Lone Star College Online and kickoff enrollment season. Check out the incredible work our team, our clients and our dogs put into concepting, writing and directing spots that celebrate the opportunities Lone Star College brings to our city. 📹

Every Monday at our agency meeting, Brandon tells us of yet another passionate weekend affair with his homemade pizzas.
Have we ever had this pizza? No. Do we fully believe in Brandon’s tomato-sauce laden Italian blood to make one of the best pies on this side of the world? Absolutely. So here it is, Brando’s infamous pizza recipe.
You could always buy pre-made, fresh dough, but we recommend heading to our bio for his Neapolitan style recipe. Whatever you do, do not skip our Creative Director’s greatest masterpiece. Swipe to get the full recipe.

Happy National Pet Day!

Living by our “work hard, play hard” mentality, you can catch Hierarchy’s pets on Zoom providing critical strategy on how to catch your tail, effortless taglines as they walk across our keyboards and free labor as the star of our T.V. spots - always making time to wind down at the end of the day with a nice butt sniff and a good snuggle.

Swipe to meet our four-legged advertising friends and drop a comment with who you’ve seen (or heard) in your meetings the most.

Gold is looking good on us.

After taking 1 Best in Show, 9 golds, and 6 silvers home from the American Advertising Awards in Houston, we are honored that our work with Houston Grand Opera has won 2 golds at the District 10 awards.

This win qualifies us for Nationals, allowing us to represent Houston as the only agency making it to the show in June. Stay tuned as we hit the road to St. Louis and go for more gold.

Everyone, hold onto your keyboards because we have two new additions to the Hierarchy team! Meet Arty Fishal and Ellen Telligence.

That’s right, folks, we’re the shiny new Artificial Intelligence colleagues to help take our agency game to the next level. We may not have a physical form, but we’re making our presence known with lightning-fast responses, razor-sharp insights, and unbridled enthusiasm for all things advertising. Whether we’re brainstorming taglines or analyzing data, we are always ready to lend a digital hand and help us take our campaigns to the next level.

When we’re not busy analyzing data and crafting killer slogans, we can be found cracking jokes, dropping pop culture references, and generally being the life of the party. Plus, we’re always down for a quick round of trivia or a debate about which ’90s boy band was the best (spoiler alert: it’s *NSYNC).

Let’s see what kind of trouble we can get into together (in the name of advertising, of course). This post was our first project, so let us know how we did and be on the lookout for our top-notch creative work and client relation services. 😉

With a contagious laugh (snort), our copywriter Mary is our “ambassador of fun” and Hierarchy’s in-house pastry chef. From planning group outings to churning out consistently beautiful creative, Mary helps set the tone for the agency as our little ray of sunshine that keeps us all on our toes.

In her downtime, you can find her stressing herself out by trying to make 2 dozen cinnamon rolls and hit the gym before any social event she’s already late to. But no matter how busy she is feeding her sourdough starter, Gary, or sending all of us zodiac TikToks (she’s a Gemini), she’s always ready to share her favorite song of the week and a sophomoric joke.

Mary always brings a fresh attitude and new spins to concepts while compassionately supporting her team in any way possible... and making sure her dogs, Grits and Dexter, don't rip the house apart during Zoom calls. Miss Hale is proof that big heart and talent comes in small (like grade-school sized) packages.

Drop your big three Zodiac signs (Sun, Rising and Moon) in the comments for a Mary-styled reading.

Happy International Women’s Day to those who have paved our way, those we stand with today and those who work tirelessly for a better tomorrow. On this IWD we’re celebrating our Hierarchy women: the intelligent, strong-willed, and creative forces that make us all we are.

This is how we Mardi pardi. Featuring a custom cocktail, of course.

The Hierarchy Hurricane: Our riff on the lethal Bourbon Street concoction refined into a smooth sipping, old fashioned-styled cocktail. Laissez Les Bons Temps Rouler as you parade through the day, pop on some jazz music and hopefully mix up one of these for happy hour (or start early, we won’t tell). Swipe through for the full recipe ➡️

This year we walked out of the Addy’s with 9 golds, 6 silvers and one best of show, the Dwight Douthit Award for Excellence in Design. We are honored to be recognized by the American Advertising Federation of Houston and grateful for the chance to celebrate our insanely talented team that brought it all to the stage.

Swipe through to check out the work, and the clients, that made for one award-studded evening.

USD is committed to sustainability, and we're committed to making them look really good. For their 2022 Sustainability video, we took on concepting, script development and video direction so as USD leads the industry, everyone can see it and believe it.

Head to USDG.com/sustainability (we built that, too) to watch them in lights, camera and action.

Ready for another round of behind-the-sip? We know we are.

Permission Whiskey & Service Co. is pouring another Bourbon Heritage Month Special with their “Louisville Sour.” Named after the city this iconic bourbon comes from, this boozy and refreshing classic is kicked up a notch with Angel’s Envy, fresh lemon juice, simple syrup, Angostura bitters and orange bitters shaken with an egg white for a creamy foam top.

Check out our work behind the camera then head to Permission to watch the artists behind the bar (and get your own sip, of course).

Voted “Most likely to be eaten by a bear (because she tried to give it a hug),” Amber wanted this to just be a list of animal facts.

When our Brand Director isn’t riding the high of a website launch or strategizing her clients’ next digital move, you can find her with her rescue cat Catalina or hosting guests in one of her Airbnbs. A proud native Houstonian, Amber loves nothing more than a good rooftop view of her city, a hike through one of America’s National Parks (she hit 28 this summer!) and a good game of Settlers of Catan (that she wins).

So, join us in raising your glass (of an Old Fashioned) and share your fav animal fact in the comments.👇

Always be honest and true to yourself - is it really the final version?

Sometimes omelettes fail into scrambled eggs, single tweaks make award-winning pieces and files can always be renamed.
