A sweet friend like you came into our store and the word “customer” didn’t fit anymore.
You encouraged us and we encouraged you, no, the word “customer” just wouldn’t do.

When Brad needed help dipping strawberries too, he would just have to call on a sweet friend like you.

When Joy needed help cause her baby was due, she would just have to call on a sweet friend like you.

When we needed strong muscles to move heavy things- furniture, gifts and big chocolate machines; we didn’t go far to find our crew, we just had to call on a sweet friend like you.

When Brad made his first batch of toffee, you were right there too, cheering him on like all sweet friends do.

When Joy painted words on the wall for a view; you walked in, stuck like glue, like the sweetest friends do.

Before our shop was so big and our staff grew and grew, we just had to call on a sweet friend like you. Packaging popcorn and chocolate galore, no one but you could have loved us more.

Our shop has been filled with an artist’s touch; your creativity and handiwork matter so much. You’ve built our shelves and stocked them too; what a gift to have a sweet friend like you.

You’ve come in for every reason one could ever think of, to share a gift of thoughtfulness and give a little love. You’ve told everyone about us all over our small town; word travels fast and here at last, we’re “the sweetest shop around.”

Feeding our kids during busy times; planning games and crafts, reading nursery rhymes;
dressing up, singing, dancing too, no, there is no friend like a sweet friend like you.

From joyous celebrations to sorrow filled news, we’ve walked through many seasons of life with you. We’ve laughed on the good days and cried when we’re blue; we’ve been there for each other, that’s what sweet friends do.

Brad and I have been talking a lot about dreams lately. We’ve always been dreamers but sometimes during different seasons of life we’ve had to “push pause” on certain dreams or reframe them a bit.

There are some dreams I have hidden away and almost let die because it didn’t seem like it would ever happen or turn out the way I thought. But as I grow in the Lord and learn to loosen my grip on them, I am realizing that maybe some of my dreams aren’t going to play out how the world tells me they should or what I’ve pictured in my head. Maybe my dreams come true more than I realize in the subtlety of my daily life.

Submitting our dreams and ultimately our lives to the Lord and asking Him to order our steps has always been better than what we could have planned anyway.

So we write out our vision, we sketch our ideas, we continue to create and work hard — I wear my cute “Don’t wake up the dreamers” hat!

And then we open up our hands to the sky, and say, “If the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that.”

I’ll leave you with this quote that I painted in the shop years ago and I think it’s fitting for us today,

“Sometimes on the way to a dream, you get lost and find a better one’”

It is truly a privilege for me and our sweet team to walk with you in the many seasons of this life. When we say, “It’s a sweet life together,” we mean it.

We’ve had the joy of helping you celebrate life’s sweetest moments, and we’ve had the honor of helping you find comfort in life’s toughest moments, too.

The last few months we’ve been able to pray with many of you in the shop. And our team wanted to create something meaningful this Christmas that would honor the prayers that have gone up and continue to go up for this community.

The chandelier that hangs in the “living room” of the shop is just that.

Hand-written prayers on delicate strips of paper represent each soul being lifted up to Jesus. We know that he hears us when we call out to Him. He is our Hope.

He is our Light in the darkness.

As we were planning this installation, we wanted to extend this message of Hope into our window with the simple words “Let the light in!”

When the darkness seems too much, “even the darkness is not dark to Him.” (Psalm 139:12)

We can be reminded in hospital rooms, in lonely bedrooms, in classrooms, in offices, on long commutes, on mountains, and in valleys…

The Light of the world is with us. Sometimes we just need to let Him in.

I’ve been practicing surrender and praying that my own heart would let go of things that would try to hinder His light from shining in or out of me. It has been a process, but I am thankful His truth and grace invites me over and over again to stand in the light of His grace and bask in the wonders of His love.
This invitation is for all of us.

I pray that no matter where you are or what you’re walking through you would experience the Light of the world this Christmas and know that you are held by the same God who holds the whole world in His hands.

Oh Mary, I feel that way today. Sometimes we behold miracles and we sing and shout like the shepherds did
and other times we behold miracles and we are left speechless. Filled with wonder and gratitude and left in awe of your marvelous magnitude.
Thank you Jesus for your presence in these seemingly mundane moments the last few days. Thank you Jesus for your power to heal, restore, renew! Thank you Jesus for your “with-ness” in the hard and painful. Thank you your humanity- your ability to “feel what we feel,” to weep with us, to rejoice with us. Thank you Jesus for the people you surround us with to remind us of your “with-ness.” Emmanuel. God with us.
All glory to your name, Jesus! All power, dominion, authority is yours!! And you have chosen to be merciful to me. How can I do anything but praise you!? 🥹
