Wowza guys...as most of you know, I lost my best little buddy recently, and then this situation happened this week that I wanted to share posts from Kokomo Community Cats TNR Program page with you all! Perhaps some of you have donated some of this amazing stuff that has been sent to them to not only help with Hazel, but ALL of the community cats that they help. Don't forget, if you like to golf, they are still hoping for more teams for tomorrow, as well as some good weather!
*Wiping away tears* This has never happened before. Of course weโve had donations sent but this was a total shock. I came home from my daughters cross country meet to find the most beautiful surprise ever!!! We asked for some donations for Hazel and boy did you all deliver! All of this was sent to help our girl during her time in foster care. Miss Hazel will have everything she needs and more during her recovery thanks to you!!! ๐ป I am often disappointed in the way that some people treat our animal friends and then yโall went and did this and restored all my faith in humanity, warmed my heart and reminded me why I/we must keep going. Far to often, folks in animal welfare witness tragedies, abuse and neglect and it crushes us just a little more each time. This gave us the boost we needed to remember why we are doing what we are doing even though itโs emotionally and physically exhausting at times. To support people and animals that need a helping hand. I shutter to think what would have happened to Hazel had the army of angels not stepped in.
I am coming to you to find out what you all would like for me to do? A live unboxing with donor names announced, a picture of all of it out of the box with names in the post, or just another picture of Miss Hazel. Regardless, we always send an Amazon thank you when the when donations are sent as a gift with the donorโs info. I am at your mercy! Drop your response in the comments. What would you like to see done in recognition of this amazing gift. I just canโt believe it but Iโm so thankful!
๐๐ We love you all! - Missy (KCC founder/director) and Hazel.
New update on Hazel for those watching for them! Happy to see a good post on progress!
Here is an update on the kitty Hazel! I will continue to give updates and you can find the story in my post from earlier this morning!
Reminder, I am not going to be open till next Wednesday! If you are interested as to why, please check out my post from Monday. Thank you for all the love!
๐โโฌ ๐บ Update on Hazel ๐ธ ๐
Our new friend, Hazel that was having a birthing emergency last night is doing ok. She is a VERY sick kitty. She was spayed, had the remainder of the deceased kittens removed, got pain medication, flea meds, fluids, and antibiotics. Hazelโs lady bits also had maggots. ๐ฟ She stinks to high Heaven like rot but is waking up although very slowly. We are waiting to hear if the vet has any other recommendations for her after care and will follow up as needed. She is not out of the woods and anything could happen but we are hopeful.
The area where Hazel showed up has other cats roaming so we are putting in place a plan to trap and fix the rest of the cats in the area. We hope any feeders or cat owners in the direct vicinity will work with us on preventing any more issues like this.
Let this be your reminder- Your cat(s) are not invincible and always, always, always spay and neuter by 4 months to prevent unwanted kittens and health problems that arise from having intact cats. IF YOU FEED THEM- YOU MUST FIX THEM!
Hazel will be heading back to Kokomo later today and we will settle her in and start her recovery.

This is extremely sad! Thank you to all of our customers who donate in our donation jar, as well as buy the Kokomo famous catnip toys in support of KCC. Don't forget, they are having a WONDERFUL golf tournament THIS SUNDAY! You can still register a team and help cats in our community just like this poor sweet Hazel! Eden's Way is even sponsoring your lunch, and they have awesome prizes for so many different things, including the most "feral" player, aka "the lowest scoring golfer!" Lol
If you enjoy golf and could put a team together for this Sunday, Kokomo Community Cats TNR Program is in need of more teams to help raise funds for Neutering and Spaying! Lots of prizes as well as auction items too! They will even be feeding you lunch, which Eden's Way is sponsoring! Tag away to any golfers you think might enjoy playing this weekend, or maybe they were already gonna play and could help this wonderful non for profit out in a big way!
He didn't belong to me only... Leonardo was TRULY LOVED by SO MANY of you! I always told him he was Kokomo's most loved cat, and he knew that! A week ago last Friday, the BEST Furry Employee took that walk across the Rainbow Bridge. His employer/mom has had a very rough time. I couldn't even announce it till now. 18 years ago, he and his brother Davinci showed up full of fleas, with ringworm and eye infections. And that's where the story of the shop with lots of cats started! I decided to make them Furry Employees. I had no idea how much I would love this little guy in particular. He has been a true joy, customers who don't even like cats fell in love with Leonardo. He was everybody's best friend when you walked in my door. Many times he was found curled up in purses that ladies left either on the counter or the floor. He was carried around his whole life by many of you, treats were brought to him to enjoy, and every little kid wanted to love on him. SOOOO many of you were given the little "Leonardo paw-pat blessing". He would just lightly reach out his paw to touch you...many times resting his paw there for awhile. I can't even begin to tell you how much I am going to miss seeing you all enjoy that, I truly felt that sometimes he knew someone just needed a little love. Leonardo helped his favorite charity Kokomo Community Cats TNR Program raise money in different ways, especially through cat-nip sales. He loved helping me with whatever the project was, and his little photogenic self helped me show off so many new gift lines, another thing I am going to miss so badly. I have to say, Stache and I are both feeling pretty lost right now. I always knew that when he left I'd have to take some time off. I plan to be closed for another week, then hopefully I'll feel better being there.
Leonardo has literally had hundreds and hundreds of pictures taken of him, if you happen to have one, I'd love to see it in the comments below. I have a mug that has a saying..."Who rescued who?" In this case, I think he did! Besides me, Leonardo WAS Eden's Way! He was part of the charm and love of that little shop on Markland Ave. I hope you all miss and remember him as much as I will! Leonardo pats to you all!
I'm sorry but we will be closed till at least Sept. 18th, but possibly a little longer.

New drinkware has arrived in the Whiskey Experience!
This is interesting! Turning my lights off right now. Has anyone else noticed less birds in their yards lately? Like, for the last month?
If you saw my video this morning of the Monarch butterfly enclosing (term for a butterfly being born out of it's Chrysalis (term for it's cocoon type thing), she is in the last picture below. All three of these were born within 5-10 minutes of each other. All are females so I'm naming them after my 3 aunts on my moms side! Aunt Earline, Aunt Lois, and Aunt Margie. All will be tagged and released tomorrow to hopefully make their way to overwinter in Mexico! I'll play some Mariachi music in the morning to set their course!
๐PLEASE NOTICE: I need to leave today at 4:30. ๐
A new shipment of Valente Family's handcrafted pasta has came in! Their dough us rolled, cut, naturally air dried then hand packed. Great ingredients and yummy pastas, these have been a customer favorite for their own kitchens as well as gifting! Each pasta comes with a recipe or two on the package. I've already taken Red Beet Fettuccine home and I can't wait to create a dish of with some of my fresh beets grown in my garden. (I'm thinking their recipe looks really good too!)

I got in these "Right it down!" books today. I first saw their Password Journals and knew I needed one of those. I constantly have to create new passwords because I apparently can never remember them. Then I saw their "When I'm Gone" books. These would be so nice to help your family and loved ones to have this information all in one book. I also brought in a few of the garden Journals which are really pretty cool, and the Cabin Journals would be fun to keep memories of who all your visitors are and what fun things you did together. Large books are $24, small Password keeper is $10. Very nice and helpful little gifts!

Stop in TODAY for half price Ladybugs! I'm down to my time limit for keeping them in the fridge so they need to find homes. If you have aphids (or one of many other bugs ladys eat) stop in and grab a pack or two. They totally cleaned up my milkweed and my dads is looking great too. I'm hearing from others that they are very pleased with the help from the little guys. These are also lots of fun for the kids and grands to watch so plan a little ladybug party this weekend with crafts, food and and a ladybug parade in your garden. It's also a great way to teach them about the life cycle of these cuties, as well as learning ways to organic gardening! Sale price is $7 a pack!
Ohhhhh... these are cute! Do you remember the little snowmen we carried at Christmas made out of recycled books? Well today we got in some of this artists pumpkins and cats. These are super cute gifts for fall birthdays, and perfect gifts for book lovers. Small pumpkin $22, medium $26 and cat $30.

โ๏ธโ๏ธUPDATE: Right at 4" at the shop too! โโ
I am ALWAYS so excited to see what my "World's Coolest Rain Gauge" measures after a rain. I got 4 inches at home, excited to see how much the shop got! These are fun gifts for most anyone. Right now we still have some of the resin ones available ($37), but when they are gone, they are only making the solid copper ones now for some reason. (But, the copper way out sells the resin in our shop). Stop in and get one because we have a possibility of rain for the next few days!
I got in more of the quillled paper angel and cross ornaments made by one of the Fair Trade groups we started supporting last Christmas. They only make the Angels around this time of the year and so many of my customers were picking them up to have on hand for sweet little memorial gifts when you just want or can only do something smaller, but want to let them know you are thinking of them. $8-$10

๐๐Since we have been selling our LIVE Ladybugs for a few weeks now, I want everyone to be aware of what the eggs and the larvae look like, also what the actual ladybugs look like as they are coming out of their pupa! This weekend I saw both larvae and a just hatched yellow-orangish ladybug while looking for Monarch Caterpillars in my parents milkweed! One of my customers sent me these awesome pictures of her ladybug eggs and then she was fortunate to see the just hatched larve as well. Please be familiar with these so you don't hurt them. The larvae actually eat way more than the adult ladybug does. Another egg to be on the lookout for (also found in dads milkweed this week) are Lacewing eggs. They are the last picture shown here. They look like a transparent type web-string hanging down with a white dot at the end. They are so cool looking, as are the lacewing bugs. Also very beneficial bugs you want to look out for. I also put a video of the ladybug life cycle in the comments below. If you are needing (or just wanting) some ladybugs in your garden, we still have some available. $15 I just released the rest of mine last night. I have spread out my releases over a few weeks now. ๐๐
