Emily Amburgey Hairstylist
Welcome to my beauty page! I’m a licensed cosmetologist and would love to help you achieve your goals
Summer aka “vacation season” is here ☀️
With all the summer traveling don’t forget to protect your hair and its color of course! There are many factors that can strip your hair from its natural oils and remove your color which will also lose its shine ✨
Here are some helpful tips:
1. Protect your hair from the sun 👒
2. Use a heat protectant 💨
3. Deep condition regularly 🧴
4. Rinse your hair immediately after swimming 🏊♀️
5. Wash out the salt water too! 🌊
6. Don’t get sunscreen on your blonde ⚠️
7. Minimize heat styling when you can 🔥
8. Try braids or twists instead 🌪️
9. Use purple toning conditioner instead of shampoo 💜
10. Don’t forget to book your hair cut when it’s all over ✂️
The REAL reasons why I don’t recommend doing your hair before vacation 🫢
It’s so common for us to want to have beautiful refreshed hair before we go take awesome pics on our vacation. However, no matter where you travel to there will always be something that will affect your hair color.
1. Salt water strips color and dries your hair out 🌊
2. Chlorine removes your natural oils that will later affect your color most likely turning it green 🏊♀️
3. Most places have hard water that will leave metals in hair 🧪
4. Sunscreen will cause discoloration especially if you have extensions 🧴
5. Excess sun exposure will lighten your hair ☀️
6. Different air quality can cause pollutants to stick to your hair and strip color over time 💨
Of course I will always be happy to do your hair before your next vacation but instead of flushing your money away I would first recommend trying some cute hair styles like braids or buns or even wearing a hat!
Need a few reasons to choose a more “lived in” look?
• low maintenance- allows for a more natural and effortless look, which means less time and effort spent on touch-ups and salon visits. The color gradually fades and blends with your natural hair, making regrowth less noticeable.
• versatility- can be customized to suit your individual style and preferences. It offers a range of options, from subtle highlights to bold pops of color that complement your skin tone and enhance your features.
• dimension/depth- it can make your hair appear fuller and more voluminous, giving it a healthy and vibrant appearance.
• soft and natural- it mimics the way the sun naturally highlights hair, resulting in a more organic and sun-kissed effect. It creates a softer transition..avoiding harsh lines.
• longevity- tends to last longer than most styles; as the color gradually fades, it blends seamlessly with your natural hair, making the grow-out process less noticeable and allowing you to enjoy your color for a longer period of time.

* Aesthetic surroundings- with beautiful live plants, marble countertops, warm wood finishes, brass fixtures, boho decor and bright lighting.. you’ll never want to leave! 🪴

* Relax & pamper yourself- come enjoy a glass of wine and get your neck/scalp massaged! 🍷

Your favorite hair stylist is officially a MRS! 💍✨
Welcome to the season of dry weather🍂
Now is the time to moisturize and hydrate and there are there are several remedies you can try to do just that. Here are some effective tips:
1. Deep conditioning treatments- at least once a week during this time of year.
* You can schedule one of my absolute favorites with me as an add on to any service!
2. Avoid over washing - washing your hair too frequently can strip away natural oils . Aim to wash your hair every two to three days, or even less often if possible. When you do, be sure to avoid extremely hot water!
3. Use a leave-in treatment- help to prevent dryness throughout the day while protecting your hair from environmental threats and heat styling.
* is the best for all the above and for strengthening damaged hair
4. Limit heat styling - air dry whenever possible and always use heat protectant when using hot tools!
5. Regular trims- remove split ends, which can make dry hair look more frizzy and damaged. Aim to get a trim every 6-8 weeks to keep your hair looking healthy and prevent further breakage.
Remember, everyone's hair is unique, so it may take some trial and error to find the right combination of remedies that work best for you. Be consistent and patient, and you should start to see improvements in the moisture and overall health of your hair.

Since Halloween is around the corner, I’m going to talk about the one word that terrifies people 👻 HAIRCUT ✂️
Getting a regular haircut offers several benefits for your hair and overall appearance:
1. Removes split ends~ getting a haircut helps to eliminate split ends, preventing them from traveling up the hair shaft and causing further damage.
2. Promotes hair health~ regular trims help by removing damaged and unhealthy ends so your hair can grow stronger and healthier.
3. Enhances hair texture~ removing dry, frizzy, or damaged ends can make your hair feel smoother, softer, and more manageable.
4. Adds volume~ if you have thin or flat hair, a haircut can create the illusion of more volume. Layers or texturizing can give your hair a fuller and more voluminous appearance.
5. Refreshes your look~ it allows you to experiment with different styles, lengths, and trends to express your personality and personal style.
6. Improves styling~ with the right cut, your hair will hold styles more effectively, saving you time and effort during your daily routine.
7. Enhances hair color~ trimming faded or dull ends can make your hair color appear more vibrant and fresh.
8. Prevents tangles and knots~ removing damaged ends reduces the likelihood of hair tangling and makes detangling easier.
9. Boosts hair growth~ contrary to popular belief, getting regular haircuts can actually prevents breakage and hair loss, allowing your hair to grow longer and healthier.
10. Overall hair maintenance~ regular trims keep your hair looking its best and ensure that it grows in a healthy manner.
Remember, the frequency of haircuts may vary depending on your hair type, length, and personal preferences but always recommended at least twice a year!

Heeey there! It has been a minute y’all so I thought it was the perfect time to re-introduce myself for all the new faces ✨
👋🏼 I’m Emily, one of the hair artists in La Crescenta-Montrose, CA. I specialize in custom lived-in color, blonding, dimensional brunettes & event styling. I’ve been working behind the chair for about four years now but have been styling hair for over fifteen years! Yes, that’s right.. I was that friend that was always braiding or curling someone’s hair for a special event 😂
I love educating my clients on the best and most proper at home care for their individual hair needs. One of the things I love the most about this career is meeting new people. It is always such a privilege to make connections with each person and to learn from one another! When I’m not behind the chair, I love:

• eating amazing food ~ sushi is life 🍣
• tending to my cute lil house plants 🪴
• cuddling with my fur baby (Sadie🐾)
• practicing yoga/meditation 🧘🏼♀️
• anything that allows me to tap into my creative side (usually painting or interior designing/organization) 🎨
After a long day I look forward to melting into the couch with my fiancé and Sadie girl just unwinding from this busy life we all live!
I’m always welcoming new clients and I can’t wait to build a new relationship with you! For all my current clients, you know I love you and I am thankful for each of you every single day 💕

Beautiful hair for a beautiful soul 🤍
Always love spending time with you Meghan!
How do I know if the “lived in” look is for me?
I love it when clients ask for lived in hair!
Creating these melty, blended and seamless looks are perfect for the low maintenance client looking for a natural hairstyle.
How do I know if I’m a low maintenance client?
Well I’m glad you asked 😉
You are a low maintenance client if you plan to have about 2-3 appointments in a year. We will have a thorough consultation to find if this style is truly what you’re looking for.
How is this look achieved?
First, I create dimension with a combination of highlights and lowlights.
Second, a shadow root (similar to your natural base or darker) is applied at the root area to blur out highlight lines. This provides a softness as your hair grows out and creates an illusion of natural
Third, I apply an all over gloss to add the desired tone and neutralize unwanted tones that may be in the hair.
Still need more convincing that this style is for you?
