As we open our 70th year, it’s been a great morning welcoming the incoming class of 2028! Thank you to Penelope and Jacob for allowing me to take a picture with you! Today we said good-bye to Dr. Vutang as she will be serving the Sunny Hills High School community next school year. We are deeply saddened to see her leave, as she has been a vital part of the Highlander family for over 10 years. Dr. Vutang has woven herself into the fabric of our community, becoming an integral part of many of our lives. She has supported thousands of students, hundreds of staff members, numerous assistant principals, and four principals.

Sunny Hills High School is incredibly fortunate to gain such a dedicated and talented assistant principal in Dr. Vutang.

We wish her all the best in her new journey and know that she will forever remain a Highlander at heart. 💙🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

As our Seniors count the final days on campus before graduation, we enjoyed the seeing them in their letterman jackets one last time!

Heritage Decades - 90s

The Heritage Class of 2025 put on a spectacular first show of Decades this evening. Original scripts, sound effects, and incredible acting made tonight’s show extremely entertaining. Tomorrow’s show starts at 6pm! Don’t miss it! 🙌🏼💙🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

FPFA English 4 completed the culmination project of a Mock Trial in the 2011 Ellen Greenberg case from Philadelphia. Students gained valuable experience in public speaking, critical thinking, and teamwork as they became experts in the evidence collected. Thank you to Commissioner of the OC Superior Court, Judge Dane, for presiding over our Mock Trial and English teachers Mrs Johnson and Ms Ryan for creating a learning environment that was both challenging and supportive! 🙌🏼🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿💙👨‍⚖️

🎉 Exciting News! 🎉 Our FPFA Program was honored to be invited to the Fullerton College Crime Lab Ribbon Cutting Ceremony! Our students had the incredible opportunity to tour the state-of-the-art facilities, including the Drone Lab. They also connected with professors and professionals in the field of Administration of Justice. A huge thank you to Fullerton College for this amazing experience! 🙌🏼💙🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

We are thrilled to celebrate the exceptional achievements of our La Habra Rotary Student-Athletes of the Year, Aliayha Saldana and Bryce Whitley!

**Aliayha Saldana:**
- Four-year member of our soccer program and team captain
- 3x Scholar Athlete
- 2nd Place in the highly competitive Freeway League Girls 400-meter race
- Two-time 1st Team All Freeway League (Junior and Senior year)
- Two-time Freeway League Offensive Player of the Year
- Two-time 1st Team All CIF (Junior and Senior year)
- Team Offensive Player of the Year (Junior year)
- Team MVP (Senior year)
- Part of our Heritage Program with a 3.34 GPA
- Received athletic scholarship offers to play soccer at Portland State University and will major in business.

**Bryce Whitley:**
- Rare four-sport athlete in football, soccer, track, and golf
- Scholar Athlete
- Freeway League 100-meter Champion as a sophomore
- Team captain for football
- Led the team to 3 CIF football playoff appearances
- 1st Team All Freeway League WR
- Freeway League Player of the Year
- 1st Team All CIF
- 1st Team All SGV
- Part of our FPFA program with a 3.0 GPA
- Garnered interest from Fresno State, San Jose State, and Fullerton College for football but remains undecided

We couldn’t be prouder of Aliayha and Bryce for their dedication, talent, and leadership on and off the field. Congratulations to both of you!

It’s is Teacher Appreciation Week and we want to express our gratitude to all of amazing staff who help LHHS thrive! We started off with snacks on Monday, a pullover on Wednesday with the year each staff member started at LHHS, and a much appreciated breakfast spread by our PTSA! Our staff’s hard work and dedication don’t go unnoticed… thank you! 💙🙌🏼🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

As excited as we were with our resilient baseball team winning in extra innings over REV, we can’t say enough about the the 20 or so students in the stands that showed selflessness, maturity, and integrity to give up their seats for others.
