It's A Sign Shop
Welcome to It’s A Sign Shop! This little shop all started when I shared pictures of canvas signs I had made to decorate my home with.
Friends and family liked what they saw and suggested I start a business! I was hesitant at first, because the pieces I made and shared are meaningful and personal to me but decided I could make meaningful and personal pieces for others as well! With the help of my husband, I was able to start making rustic wooden signs along with canvas pieces. These signs are great to have hanging in your own hom
Been wanting to get back into watercolor painting and decided to complete a challenge before summer vacation was over. Came across This Writing Desk’s 10-day wilderness challenge and had to give it a try. I had a lot of fun following along with Kolbie’s tutorials although, as usual, I did things my own way so they look nothing like they’re supposed to 😆 I threw one of my paintings in the garbage and thought a couple were just “meh” but here are some that turned out alright ✨

If you need a sign to finish something you started, this is it! 🪧✨
Had a lot of fun following along with an watercolor tutorial, making these birch trees using the side of an old credit card 🤯

Happy Fall! 🍃🍁🍂
I haven’t posted in a while, so let me reintroduce myself. My name is Jill and my husband’s name is Alex. When we got married in 2017, we were really big on making all of our own decorations. From centerpieces, to canvas signs, to our wooden pallet guest book tree. Friends and family were interested and it seemed like we were pumping out signs left and right for weddings, gifts, benefits, home decor, and have even participated in a few craft shows.
Since then, we’ve done some traveling, had a covid baby, and moved into a new house. We’ve been pretty busy raising our now 3 year old boy, turning our house into our dream home, and trying to sprinkle in some fun for ourselves every once in a while. We haven’t established a solid workspace yet and honestly, that’s not our biggest priority right now- but the need to express myself and create some kind of art oozes out of me.
Since we don’t have a huge work space, I’ve been working on a smaller scale at our dining room table. I’m currently dabbling with water color, acrylic, and ink on paper. My inspiration is and has always been flowers, landscapes, and nature. My husband and I sit out in the backyard sometimes and feel like we’re in a simulation because the sky and clouds and trees don’t even seem real.
Anyway, I decided to showcase all of the art I/we create on this page, not just custom signs. I’ll be posting more paintings and if anyone is interested, I’ll happily sell you the original or make a paper print. I’m also available for custom paintings, calligraphy work, and small scale projects for weddings/showers.
Thanks for following along and feel free to check out the other projects I have going on as well:

Our Story
Welcome to It’s A Sign Shop! It’s A Sign all started when I shared pictures of canvas signs I made to decorate my home with. Friends and family liked what they saw and suggested I start a business! I was hesitant at first, because the pieces I made and shared are meaningful and personal to me but I decided I could make meaningful and personal pieces for others as well!
Business really picked up after I shared pictures of signs I had made for my own wedding to my wonderful husband, Al. I made a few different canvas signs for our big day, but I really wanted a “wedding tree” guest book sign made out of wood. My husband thought he could build one using old pallets, and he did! From that point on, we began selling canvas AND wooden pallet signs.
If a personalized canvas or pallet sign is something you’re interested in, send me your idea! Let me know what size canvas or pallet you want, what kind of font you want, and a quote, saying, or song lyric that is meaningful to you (or a friend if it's a gift!) I can also add simple designs, pops of color, burlap, or any other small decorations. If you have a picture of something you saw and want me to make, show me!
The price of your piece will depend on the size, how much work is put into it, and the time spent making your sign. Canvases are cheaper than pallets because they don't have to be built but we really try to come up with fair prices for all signs. Pieces are usually complete within 2 weeks depending on how busy we are, and when your piece is finished, I'll let you know so you can come pick it up! We have also shipped signs out, but shipping tends to be pricey (usually more than we even charge for the sign!)
My husband and I have worked together to make signs for all kinds of occasions (home decor, birthday gifts, weddings, anniversaries, holidays, wedding showers, baby announcements, baby showers, 1st birthday parties, photoshoots, 1st day of school...the possibilities are endless!) I love hearing the stories behind the pieces we make and we truly put everything we have into the signs, making each one with 100% love. I will be with you every step of the way to make sure the piece you order is exactly what you want! Message me with any questions and/or to place an order. We appreciate your business!
