Don’t let the police drama actors fool you… people handle fentanyl daily and do not die. Please do not use fentanyl since it is such a dangerous and powerful drug but also we do not want our friends in 337 to be misinformed. Also there’s no such thing as “fent laced weed” so everyone can just relax and stay safe!

Would anyone donate a plastic tub for us to make contactless pickups with? We need something weather proof and a little spacious. Even an ice chest or something like that! Thank you so much ❤️

This morning two gentlemen knocked on the door of our pick up spot with no heads up or appointment. If this happens again we will have to shut down personal pick up and bring it back to one hour a week at one location. Please share ❤️

Body Found at Bus Stop on UL Campus Identified, No Foul Play Expected UPDATE: The University of Louisiana at Lafayette Police Department confirmed that a dead body was found just after 8 a.m. on Thursday at the Bourgeois Hall bus stop.

We wanted to reach out to y’all and ask what fundraisers or events y’all would like to be a part of!

We attempted to have a Mardi Gras bake sale but didn’t receive any orders so we moved it to an Easter bake sale that we announced last week but still have no orders made. Is Lafayette over AHR bake sales? Can we do something new for you? We only have resources from these fundraisers so they need to be a success! Let us know what we can do to serve you better!

So you've called 911, administered Narcan, and the person is waking up but nobody is on scene yet. It's still just you and this person you just helped. What do you say to them??

Waking up from an overdose reversal can be traumatic, and disorienting. It's best to stay with them for up to 90 minutes if emergency services are unavailable, and always stay with them until emergency services arrive.

It's not time for shaming, arguing, shouting or stigmatizing speech, but a gentle "Welcome back."

AHR is actively looking for supporters in our community to help us continue to provide these services for free to the public where it’s needed the most! Our biggest current projects are having a website and service sign up forums professionally made as well as the usual cost of hygiene items, clean using supplies, Narcan, fentanyl testing strips, emergency contraceptives, and first aid supplies! Our goal to be able to have all of our needs met for this quarter would be $3,000. This doesn’t include the cost of gas, lunch for volunteers, shipping and handling on packages, and many more unseen costs it takes to keep AHR up and running for Lafayette! 💪

Today (3/14/24) we were able to give to the Lafayette public:

25 boxes (50 doses) of NARCAN
40 Fentanyl testing strips
6 hygiene kits
1 box of tampons
4 emergency contraceptive
6 clean works kits
10 packs (20) masks
4 pairs of socks

Since LAST WEEK (7 days!!!!!) we have been able to save 3 lives reported with Narcan and one person did not ingest fentanyl accidentally thanks to using one of our test strips!!! Thank you all for your help and continued support! We are making Lafayette safer every day by working together!

With forecasted weather to be at or below freezing temperatures for an extended period, Catholic Charities of Acadiana is activating a freeze plan throughout its sheltering programs for those experiencing homelessness in Lafayette.

Catholic Charities of Acadiana is also coordinating with Lafayette Consolidated Government and the Lafayette Emergency Operations Center in plans to open a public warming center for those who are unsheltered or who lack adequate heat.

Those in need of warm shelter can present at St. Joseph Diner (613 W. Simcoe Street) starting on Monday, January 15th to be transported to the prepared LCG warming center. Public transportation will be provided between 12:00pm to 6:00pm on Monday. The LCG warming center will remain open until Wednesday when temperatures rise above the freezing mark.

In response to the dangerously cold temperatures, Catholic Charities of Acadiana plans to surge capacity at all of its shelters as of Monday evening and appeals to the community for assistance with the added cost of staffing, hot meals, and utilities. Monetary donations can be made at https://give.classy.org/FreezeShelter. Most needed shelter items include the following:

Sleeping bags
Bath towels
Twin sized blankets (new)
Coats (sizes M- # # )
Sweatpants (new, all adult sizes)
Toilet paper
Clorox wipes
Bathroom shower slippers

Items can be dropped off at the Emily House Shelter (1000 E. Willow Street, Lafayette, LA). The public can also assist with in-kind donations by shopping the emergency shelter Amazon list at https://amzn.to/3z4jwSm.

When someone you know is going through a really hard experience such as loss, mental health struggles, or infertility, asking them how you can help puts the onus on them — and they may not have an answer in the moment. ⁣

Instead of saying “how can I help?” offer specific acts of support.⁣
⁣
For example — leave a favorite dish on their front porch, or drop off compostable paper plates so they don’t have to worry about dishes.⁣
⁣
However you choose to be there helps 💙
