FIRST- Come meet us at the UL Volleyball game Friday October 13th at 6PM K Long Gym. Arrive Early for seating and admission is Free!

SECOND-Fright trail in Scott Saturday October 21st@ 5:30pm. We will allowed to skip long line and enter first at a discounted rate of $25. Bring exact change to Eddie before time of event. This is always a great event for team bonding .

SunSetters Inspiration Scholarship

Beginning this year and for the duration of the existence of the Sun Setter’s Volleyball Club, a full paid scholarship will be awarded to a deserving Sun Setter’s player who exemplifies and is willing to be an ambassador of the core values this club was founded upon: Be Kind, Be Confident, Be Coachable, Have Fun.

I am proud of what Sun Setters has become and the role I served in its creation, mission and growth. Eddie and Jennifer have been amazing partners who have run with the vision and now manage all aspects of the club. Together, we have built a values-based business with amazing coaches, zero debt, reserve cash, a bright future and not one single penny put in any of our pockets. Eddie has been the hardest working, most underpaid (free), passionate club director on the face of the earth. I can’t wait to see where he takes this vision with the help of Jennifer’s strong business aptitude and ethical, faith-based approach to all she does.

Now is the perfect time for me to cash in my one-third ownership, which I have done. My buyout is this perpetual scholarship to be administered by an organization I am forming to spread the values that I believe in.

My friend and coaching partner Shane Theunissen and I were blessed to watch a special group of girls become strong young women right before our eyes. They continue to make us proud and are the only reason this club exists. Reese, Claire, Evie, Allie, Kristian, Bethany, Bailey, Alexa, Olivia and Madison are the Inspiration this perpetual award is named after. I hope to convince them all to participate in leading this new organization.

Starting a non-profit which can accept charitable donations came with more red tape and regulations than I anticipated but it is still the goal. If anyone is interested in being a part of growing this vision please reach out. I expect to have an application process, scholarship criteria and selection committee created by Oct 1st.

Congratulations to our 3rd and 4th SunSetters value award winners, Maddie Hebert and Kayleigh Broussard, who were both recognized for our Have Fun value.

You both have a unique gift to share with the world which will allow you to lead and have a positive impact on those around you.

Congratulations to Loni Angelle for earning the prestigious SunSetter Value Award at the Foley Alabama tournament.

Throughout the tournament, Coach Rachel observed specific behaviors from Loni that demonstrated the SunSetter value of Be Confident. Loni’s journey as a SunSetter began with being separated from her school friends and placed on a team where she knew no one. We are proud of Loni's teammates who naturally lived the value of Be Kind and contributed to the confidence that Loni showed to win this award. That is how we Bond to Battle!

When asked to play positions she’s never played or practiced, Loni responded with “I can do it Coach!” When mistakes were made, Loni looked in coaches direction, took feedback and immediately looked ready for the next opportunity. Her body language remained positive which gave coach Rachel confidence that Loni was ready for the next ball. She did not dwell on errors and never looked defeated. Coach said in her nomination of Loni, that "she makes her teammates feel safe when she is on the court because we all know she will give 100% and handles new direction with ease and grace. This weekend, I had her hitting in the front row and she had one of the most amazing kills I’ve ever seen from someone her size. It brought her coach to tears."

Congratulations Loni! Wear this award with confidence as you lead others on their journey.

Congratulations to Bella Johnson for earning the prestigious SunSetter Value Award at last weeks Cowboy Classic Tournament.

One player from the entire club is selected from competitive coach nominations for demonstrating one of the four guiding SunSetter values, which aim to teach transferable life skills through the game of volleyball.

Coach Maya recognized Bella continuously living the SunSetter value of Be Coachable. Specifically, when receiving feedback, Bella maintained positive body language, made direct eye contact, acknowledged understanding of coaching and made a noticible effort to implement coaching without question.

Congratulations Bella. Wear this award with pride. You earned it and will continue to do great things on and off the court.

We are very proud to introduce our first ‘Girl Talk’ session for players this Saturday Feb 20th at 2:30 in the Sun Setters practice facility. This series will feature confident, kind and coachable female role models who will teach lessons that extend beyond the game and into life.
