Road to Malta: junior powerlifter gears up for international competition At just 17-years-old Brylee Batiste is gearing up for the international stage. At the end of August, she is headed to the IPF Open Classic Powerlifting World Championships.

Eligibility - open to any college or university in Louisiana.
All team roster athletes must be age 25 and under and show proof of full time status for the fall 2024 semester.
Scoring - top 5 males plus top 5 females by total IPF points. No limit to the number of athletes that a school may include on the team roster, no limit to entrants per weight class. Athletes on school roster can be any combination of raw & equipped.

Q: How can I join?
A: We'll start accepting new members for both our Abbeville and Lafayette branches on April 14. We'll fill up quickly and go on a waiting list so if you want to join, be prepared to act quickly when membership opens up on April 14. Go to cajunpreppowerlifting.com on April 14 and click "join today". New lifters will start training in June.

Q: Who can join?
A: Males in grades 9-12 and Males in college (age 24 and under)
A: Females age 13 to 113

Q: Is there a try-out period?
A: Yes - starting in 2024, new athletes will be in a try-out period for the first 10 workouts. If the athlete attends all 10 of his/her first 10 workouts, the athlete makes the team! If the athlete misses a workout during the first 10, the athlete's try-out period will be extended to to 15 workouts, of which 14 must be attended to make the team.

Q: Do I have to be strong to join?
A: No! Most of our athletes join with zero experience. We can build you from scratch. We range in skill from novices and beginners to professional powerlifters and world champions. We all train together and grow together.

Q: How much does it cost to participate?
A: Cajun Prep costs $0. Athletes run powerlifting meets and participate in fund raisers to cover all expenses.

Q: Is it hard?
A: Yes

Q: Is it worth the sacrifices and effort that will be required?
A: If you want to be a casual lifter, no. If you're looking to be the best powerlifter you can possibly be, yes . The demands are high, but the results we produce are unmatched.

We offer raw and equipped options and welcome all skill levels, beginner to elite.

Coming March 2024 - the Lafayette branch of Cajun Prep is quadrupling in size!
12 combo racks with premium, competition-grade weights and bars. Experienced, skilled coaches and a community committed to making it to the top of the sport together. We look forward to a much larger membership in 2024.
