Ready for adventure? Black bear hunting season lottery applications open 𝘁𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆! 🐻

To enter the WMA Black Bear Lottery, submit your application anytime now through 𝗦𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟮𝟱. Possession of a valid black bear hunting license is required prior to applying for the General and the WMA Black Bear Lottery. A $50 non-refundable application fee will be charged to each applicant. Only one application is allowed per person per lottery, and paper submissions are not accepted.

𝗜𝗠𝗣𝗢𝗥𝗧𝗔𝗡𝗧 𝗡𝗢𝗧𝗘: A black bear license is required to apply for the WMA or the General Black Bear Lottery. The system will not allow you to apply without first possessing this license. 𝗔𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗗𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝗛𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀!

LDWF is excited to announce that lease fields will be available in 𝗗𝗲𝗥𝗶𝗱𝗱𝗲𝗿 and 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗳𝗮𝘅 for the opening day of dove hunting season on 𝗦𝗲𝗽𝘁. 𝟳. Additionally, several LDWF Wildlife Management Areas (WMAs) will have dove fields ready for you!

𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗶𝘁 𝗜𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻:
The registration fee is $10 for adults plus a convenience fee, while youths age 17 and younger can hunt for free. Both hunts will begin a half hour before sunrise. Hunters can access permits for the lease field hunts through the LDWF website at: Dove Hunts

𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗥𝘂𝗹𝗲𝘀:
▪ Only non-toxic shot size 6 and smaller are allowed. No lead shot permitted.
▪ Dogs are welcome! ATVs are allowed but may be restricted to field roads if wet conditions prevail.

📍 𝗗𝗲𝗥𝗶𝗱𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗙𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗱𝘀:
▪ Location: Highway 190, ~5 miles west of its intersection with Highway 171 and Highway 27
▪ Approximately 500 acres of harvested corn and soybeans
▪ Fields open to the public at 5 a.m.

▪ Location: North side of Highway 492, ~2 miles west of the Highway 71/492 intersection

▪ Fields open to the public at 5 a.m.

𝗪𝗠𝗔 𝗗𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝗛𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴:
LDWF WMAs offering dove fields or hunting opportunities include Bodcau WMA, Boeuf WMA, Clear Creek WMA, and many others. Most of the WMA dove fields are open throughout the dove season, but Sandy Hollow WMA and Elbow Slough WMA have certain days dove hunting is not permitted. 📅Mark your calendars! The highly-anticipated 𝗟𝗼𝘂𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗮 𝗕𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗕𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗛𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗟𝗼𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘆 will open to state hunters beginning 𝗔𝘂𝗴𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝟮𝟵 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝘂𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗦𝗲𝗽𝘁. 𝟮𝟱.

The black bear hunting season will take place from December 7-22, 2024, in Bear Management Area 4, covering Tensas, Madison, East Carroll, West Carroll, and parts of Richland, Franklin, and Catahoula parishes.

A total of 10 permits will be issued for the 2024 lottery. Possession of a valid black bear hunting license is required to apply for the General and the WMA Black Bear Lottery. Successful applicants will also need to complete an LDWF bear hunter-training course that will take place on November 2nd or November 14th (LDWF encourages attendance on the November 2nd course if possible).
