Pink diamonds are incredibly rare! They account for a fraction of a percent of the world’s diamond production. Let's delve into some fascinating details about them.

- The Argyle mine once produced over 90% of the world’s pink diamonds, but pink diamonds only accounted for 0.1% of the Argyle mine’s overall production.
- Unlike other fancy color diamonds, which are colored by elements such as nitrogen for yellow or boron for blue diamonds, most pink diamonds are pink due to atomic level distortions in their crystal structure associated with plastic deformation under great pressures. It’s almost as if they were squeezed by the Earth until they turned pink!
- Laboratory-grown diamond producers have yet to replicate the exact way pink diamonds are naturally created, but pink color can be produced in selected natural-origin and laboratory-grown diamonds through treatment. Natural and treated pink colors can be readily identified by gemological laboratories.
