On Tuesday, June 4, the Lafayette Parish School System Facilities and Long-Range Planning Committee will host their monthly meeting at Ovey Comeaux High School. Civic Solutions Groups will be present to provide an overview of the ongoing district optimization planning process. This meeting is open to the public.

This is a reminder that beginning tomorrow, June 1st, 2024, The Grad Shoppe will be taking orders for Comeaux High's designated uniform t-shirts, crew neck sweatshirts, and quarter zip shirts for students. Orders placed by June 27th at 5pm will be available for pickup at Orientation or before the start of school. Designated T-shirts may be worn everyday with school uniform bottoms. LPSS is providing free meals to children during the summer as part of the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Summer Meal Programs. No registration is needed. The program is open to anyone aged 18 and younger. For times and locations please see the graphic below.

Ms. Catherine Cassidy has been appointed Principal of Ovey Comeaux High School, bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience.

Ms. Cassidy boasts a comprehensive tenure of 26 years, with 24 years dedicated to the Lafayette Parish School System. Her career in LPSS includes 12 years of teaching and coaching, followed by four years as an assistant principal at Acadiana High School. Subsequently, Cassidy assumed the role of the inaugural principal at Southside High School, where she spent seven years fostering school culture and serving as an instructional leader. Transitioning to Director of High Schools in the preceding year, Cassidy has returned to her passion for direct engagement with high school students and staff.

Noteworthy contributions include co-presentations with Pfluger Architects at Association for Learning Environments (A4LE) conferences, addressing topics such as Collaborative Spaces: Asset or Liability and Setting the Bar in Lafayette. In 2023, she presented to LPSS administrators on Promoting Feedback Culture through End of Year Reflections. Additionally, she served on the Protect Louisiana Schools Hurricane Preparedness Commission initiated by Louisiana State Superintendent Dr. Cade Brumley in 2021, and she was recently appointed to the Steering/Sustainability Committee for the Louisiana Development Ready Community. Cassidy will bring her approach to developing the Whole Child to the OCHS community and is excited about the work that lies ahead.

Ms. Cassidy holds a bachelor’s degree in Health and Physical Education, a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, and an add-on certification in Administration from the University of Louisiana at Monroe.

✨Meet Kala Deshae Dugas
Kala plans to attend the University of Louisiana at Lafayette to study Biology with a focus on pre-veterinary medicine. Kala was a member of the Mural Art and Décor Club, the National Honors Society, National Beta Club.

We are so proud and honored to have these two educators as part of our OCHS FACULTY! Tonight, both were recognized at the LPSS Leadership Awards. Congratulations to OCHS Teacher of the year, Kelly Guillot and OCHS Counselor of the year (and LPSS High School Counselor of the Year) Rhonda Drayton!!! OCHS Junior and Speech Team member Hayden Harman was the Master of Ceremonies!
