This is very sad news to hear about a Foster Youth taking their own life. She was living with her aunt and uncle. Proper Foster care treatment in our country is lacking. Any Family member taking in a foster child needs to be trauma informed, attachment trained, grief and loss trained, and most importantly have a supportive network. If anyone knows this family please send them condolences and have them reach out to for support. ***de

Girl, 17, ID'd after fatally shooting self with deputy's gun at Industry station, authorities say Authorities identified a 17-year-old girl who died after she allegedly took a firearm from the holster of a deputy at the Industry sheriff's station and fatally shot herself.

We are so thankful to have Cathy Leckie Koley as our Adult Adoptee Support Group Facilitator and our Adoption Constellation Support Group Facilitator. Cathy is a Trauma-Sensitive Yoga Instructor, Adoptee Speaker/ Writer / Educator. After reuniting with her birth family at age 43, she found herself on an unexpected healing journey related to her own relinquishment. The process included yoga, through which she found significant healing, and a new career path. As a yoga teacher since 2012, Cathy teaches others about the adoptee experience, strategies for unearthing and healing adoption wounds, and mind-body practices that help with adoption-related difficulties. Trained in Trauma-Sensitive in 2014 with Bessel van der Kolk, author of The Body Keeps the Score, and David Emerson, author of Overcoming Trauma through Yoga. Cathy is currently pursuing an M.A. in Counseling Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute. A Big shout out to Women in History of Celia Center, Inc. Denise Dornisch Palmer She is the facilitator of the First Birth Parent Support Group. Her story.... In 2018, my son found me through a DNA search on Ancestry. Until that time, I was unaware of the trauma that he and I had suffered with my decision to relinquish him. It seems inconceivable now, that I would not know this. I met my son 5 days after he first contacted me. We have been in close communication every day since we met. There have been some difficult times, but my son's return to me continues to be one of the greatest miracles of my life.
