✨✨Remembering John Eagle: A Tribute to the Founder of Studio 7 Gallery✨✨
Dear Studio 7 Gallery Community,
It is with profound sorrow and deep admiration that we come together to honor the life and legacy of our beloved founder, mentor, and friend, John Eagle. John's recent passing leaves a void in our hearts, but his impact on the art world and our lives will forever shine brightly.
John's journey as an artist began in the picturesque landscapes of Ashtabula, Ohio. His formative years in Hawaii and the San Francisco Bay area nurtured his love for art and provided the foundation for his remarkable career. He honed his craft in San Jose, California, where he completed his undergraduate degree at SJSU, and later pursued postgraduate studies at Otis Art Institute and the prestigious Laguna College of Art and Design.
With his roots firmly planted in Laguna Beach, John became an integral part of the artistic fabric of the community. He was a member of esteemed art associations, including the Laguna Plein Air Painters Association, Sawdust Art Festival and served on it's BOD, Festival of Arts, Southern California Artists Association, and the American Impressionist Society. He also served as an officer for First Thursdays Art Walk in Laguna Beach, contributing to the promotion of local artists and fostering a vibrant art culture.
As an instructor of oil painting for the City of Laguna Beach, privately and the Sawdust Art Festival, John generously shared his wealth of knowledge and experience with budding artists, nurturing the next generation of creative minds. His guidance was not confined to the classroom; at Studio 7 Gallery, he created a haven for aspiring artists, pushing them to reach new heights in their artistic endeavors.
With over six decades of active painting, John's dedication to his craft was unwavering. He approached each canvas with passion and commitment, infusing his works with profound emotion and a unique artistic style that captivated audiences far and wide. His artistry was recognized and celebrated, earning him a well-deserved place in Who's Who in American Art.
To those of us fortunate enough to call John Eagle a friend and mentor, he was more than just an artist; he was radiating positivity. His kindness, generosity, and wisdom enriched our lives in immeasurable ways. Studio 7 Gallery became more than just a space to showcase art; it became a family, bound together by John's business acumen, infectious positivity, and unwavering support for one another.
John's dream of creating Studio 7 Gallery was a manifestation of his passion for art and his profound love for Laguna Beach. For him, being a Laguna Beach artist was a "wonderful dream come true," and he embraced every moment of it.
As we bid farewell to our dear John Eagle, let us carry his spirit with us in every brushstroke, in every creative endeavor, and in every connection we forge through our art. He may no longer be with us in person, but his legacy will continue to inspire and guide us as we paint the canvas of life.
Rest in eternal peace, dear John. You will be deeply missed, but your light will forever illuminate our artistic journey.
As of August 1st, Lynn Wiederman will take over as owner and manager of our gallery . Lynn has been showing her work at our gallery for over 25 years. In recent years, she has been working closely with John on managing the gallery. John was a dear friend and mentor to Lynn and Lynn has committed along with all of us to continue John’s amazing legacy here at Studio7Gallery.
We look forward to connecting with you soon.
With heartfelt condolences,
The Studio 7 Gallery
