My Daddy…toasted Chiles in the backyard on the BBQ… the delicious aroma filled the neighborhood air from a block away— he was definitely one of the first— a pioneer in bringing Hispanic culture to California via New Mexico Chiles and cuisine.
What was this Latino delicacy in a dominant white OC neighborhood?
The same green Chiles that Americans now take pride in decades later, adding to their favorite dishes from omelettes to tri-tip on a bun. Any way you serve them up they add fire and spice that will DELIGHT YOUR TASTE BUDS!

I have always experimented with my own toppings since Forever! 😄 For chefs who paved the way here in US for avant- garden pizza, Wolfgang Puck comes to mind. My travels in the 80’s to Italy revealed all sorts of alternative toppings not yet adopted in the US, like a traditional egg on top! At that time in Los Angeles, La pizza Napolitana was barely making its name at Beverly Hills.

Now with the new form of Vegetarian 🥑 🥗 (different from the 20th century, as everyone has instant access to data; pros and cons and breakdown of every food on the planet!) people really do have the access and capability to design a well-balanced diet that works for them!

My personal diet: vegetable and plant heavy with an occasional broiled salmon or organic chicken breast. (Modern humans do need protein, and a blend can be healthy, according to my Human Evolution professor at Columbia U, Dr. S) For straight Vegetarians, it is possible to develop a menu with complete proteins with thoughtful preparation.

Jazz is a major part of my life and I grew up singing and performing all the great Standards. I’d perform in LA at the Nucleus Nuance on Melrose Ave and have the best memories of the people I played with like the late , New Orleans jazz pianist, or Grammy Award Winner, — the city players were sending me the limos and champagne… no strings attached, just a spot ‘back-stage’ to soak in the lively vibes of the musicians.

Jazz was made whole by the historical women who made up the foundation of its roots in the mid-twentieth century like Mary Lou Williams, Ella, Sarah V, and so many more.

Each afternoon I chill out with Jazz lounge piano music that makes the day complete! My chis, The OC Chihuahuas love it too… so much better than noisy news about the world gone mad.
