Thanks to an over-exposure to sitting, it can be quite easy for our spines to become stiff. Poor shapes and postures often create areas of increased load which are forced to stiffen and tighten as a result.
Considering the spine is essentially our centerpiece, stiffness throughout can have mechanical consequences for so many other areas. Our arm and leg function can become compromised and even our ability to breathe effectively and efficiently can suffer.
With in mind it's important to have some strategies to try and combat this dysfunction.
Have a watch and let us know how you're spinal mobility is going. What are you dealing with at the moment? #InjuryPrevention #wellness #physicaltherapy #PhysicalTherapyTips #lagunaniguel #MassageTherapy #HealthAndWellnessTips #wellnessjourney #physicaltherapyclinic

One Stretch To Rule Them All
If you suffer from any form of low back pain, pelvic pain, hip pain, knee pain, and even various forms of foot and ankle pain, make sure you take the time to practice the COUCH STRETCH.
The front of our hips can easily become tight thanks to all the sitting we do. And this handbrake can change the way we load the tissue above and below the hip.
In this video, we go through how to do find your best version of the couch stretch and how to make genuine change.
Have you tried it before?
Good Mornings for low back and hip health.
Home Exercise Tip #10:
If you're looking for something to pass the time while you're at home, give the Good Morning a try. It's a fantastic movement pattern to practice is you want to protect your back long-term.
Many lose the ability to hinge purely from the hips thanks to our sitting-dominant lifestyles. Instead we often hinge through the lower back instead setting us up for dysfunction over time.
Start by standing up tall and image your glutes are lifting off the back of your thighs as you lean forward. Your safe distance will be guided by when you begin to feel your hamstrings tighten or low back begin to bend.
3 sets of 15 is a nice number to try.
This may sound unrealistic for many, but 'normal' is being able to hinge down a full 90 degrees without having to bend your low back.
Give this a go and let us know how far down you can get!
Congratulations to our monthly raffle winner!
