Our chapter celebrated the kick off to a new sorority year. Our theme “Cowgirl Cuties” was perfect as members received a clear focus on the business at hand. We saddled up, signed up to implement great programs to enhance our community. We completed the day making phone calls to inform our community of election information and offering rides to the polls!

Congratulations to the Lake Charles Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. for being awarded the Exemplary Social Action Award at the 49th Southwest Regional Conference in Austin, TX.
Our chapter also had a dedicated group that participated in the conference virtually!

Taking Delta business to a new level! These steadfast sisters came together and attended the SWR opening day virtually!!! They even had a sisterhood luncheon!

This year as we celebrate our rich heritage we do so with an appreciation for African Americans and the Arts. As ASALH reminds us (The Association for the Study of African American Life and History), "African American artists have used art to preserve history and community memory as well as for empowerment. Artistic and cultural movements such as the New Negro, Black Arts, Black Renaissance, hip-hop, and Afrofuturism, have been led by people of African descent and set the standard for popular trends around the world."

Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated has long celebrated cultural expression through the Arts with our National Arts and Letters Commission. The NALC is charged to preserve, communicate and project all art forms that express the Black experience in positive and liberating ways.

Stay tuned as we honor our history this month by recognizing African Americans in the Arts!

Service is what we do! This MLK Holiday our chapter stepped up and showed love as in Matthew 25! We donated air mattresses and blankets and helped set up the warming center at Water's Edge Gathering Church in preparation for tonight’s arctic blast. Water’s Edge will open its doors at 2pm. There are 105 beds and hot meals ready for anyone in need of shelter tonight.

The aim of the forum is to give voters an opportunity to hear candidates discuss their commitment to service, barriers, and challenges throughout each community. This is a public event that will be moderated through its duration.
