Come and join us for our annual Baby Expo event on March 9th! Registration begins at 9:30 am and the contests begin at 10:00. This event will be catered to the children in our community. We will have an informational for parents and friendly competitions for the children. Make note that there will be prizes for the winners of each contest. You won’t want to miss this!

To celebrate our 104th Founders’ Day, three of our chapter members attended church service at Mount Olive Baptist Church with our grad Chapter, Beta Kappa Zeta. We would like to thank Mount Olive for allowing us to worship with them. We also took the time out of our day to do community service. We donated food to the food pantry💙🤍!!

Recently, members of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, Lambda Gamma Chapter, along with members of its sponsoring graduate chapter, Beta Kappa Zeta Chapter, attended the 2023 State Leadership Conference at Grambling State University.

There, we had the opportunity to learn more about Membership Intake, Risk Management, Branding, Leadership Enhancement, and more.

Finer women “Embracing the Extraordinary.”🕊️

McNeese students attending were Deseree’ Wallace, chapter president, McKenzie McClinton, Amari Malbreau, and Ja’Lisa Goudeau.

The chapter also received special recognition for their outstanding contribution to the March of Dimes. 👏🏽

Sorors Deseree’ Wallace and Essence Means had the opportunity to represent our chapter by attending our 93rd “Mighty” Southern Regional Leadership Conference in San Antonio, TX last month. They participated in various workshops that taught leadership development, networking opportunities, and sorority structure. They were also first time delegates and learned the legislation practices done at a regional level.

Additionally, they had the honor of being embraced by our twenty-sixth International President, Soror Stacie N.C. Grant as well as our twenty-fourth past International President, Soror Mary Breaux Wright and Louisiana State Legislator, Barbara West Carpenter. Last night we attended the Student Government Association, Student Life Coalition, and Fraternity and Sorority Life End of the Year Awards Banquet. Student leaders and organizations were recognized for all of their achievements throughout the 2023-2024 school year.

Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, Lambda Gamma Chapter as a whole, as well as some of our individual Sorors were recognized.

Lambda Gamma received an award for earning 1st place in the spring 2023 NPHC Stroll-Off🥇. We also received an award for Outstanding Community Service. This was awarded to us for our exceptional display for our second principle, service. Community service is what we do!

Soror Essence Means received an award for serving as the 2022-2023 SGA Vice President👏🏽. Essence was also recognized as Leader of The Year. She received this award for being involved in many areas and organizations on campus, and by always leading in a finer way.

Soror Aurora Baker, who served as the McNeese NPHC Secretary, received her graduation chord. Aurora will be graduating this spring with a bachelors in sociology with a concentration in family science. 🥳

Through the vision of Triumphant Soror Thelma Y. Thomas, Lambda Gamma was the FIRST Black Greek Lettered Organization to step foot on the campus of McNeese State University, on April 24th, 1969.

Over five decades later and our chapter continues to build on the principles of Zeta, blazing paths for those to follow, leaving an everlasting legacy of Scholarship, Service, Sisterhood, and Finer Womanhood.💙🤍🕊

Takia Walker (Spring ‘22) is a senior Nursing major 📍from Shreveport, La. She is our Secretary, as well as a member of NSLS, Ochsner Nurse Scholar, Sigma Theta Tau, and McNeese NPHC. 🕊

Amari Malbreau (Fall ‘22) is a sophomore Psychology major, with a minor in art, who is 📍from Lake Charles, La. Amari is currently serving as our chapter’s Treasurer, as well as a McNeese NPHC member. 🕊

McKenzie McClinton (Fall ‘22) is a senior Nursing major, 📍from Ville Platte, La. McKenzie is currently serving as our chapter’s Parliamentarian, and she is a member of McNeese NPHC, Sigma Theta Tau, and is a McNeese Rowdy Rider. 🕊

To wrap up our Finer Womanhood Week, we would like to introduce our executive board members! 💙🤍🕊

Nakelia White (Spring ‘22) is a senior Nursing major, 📍from Witchita Falls, Texas. She is currently serving as our chapter’s President and is also a member of NSLS, McNeese NPHC, and the Student Nurses Association. 🕊

Deseree’ Wallace (Spring ‘22) is a senior Biological Science (Pre-Med) major, 📍from Lake Charles, La. Deseree’ is our chapter’s 1st Vice President, as well as a member of Pre-Med Society, NSLS, and is Vice President of Philanthropy for Greek Unity Board (GUB). 🕊

Essence Means (Spring ‘22) is a senior majoring in Health Systems Management 📍from Lake Charles, La. She serves as our 2nd Vice President as well as our ZHOPE/ Campus Involvement chairman, Vice President for SGA, and McNeese NPHC Sergeant at Arms.🕊Soror Means is currently running for 2023-2024 SGA President. Vote MMA and follow them 💙🤍

Aurora Baker (Fall ‘19) is a senior Sociology major with a Concentration in Family Science, and she is 📍from Jacksonville, Florida. Aurora is our chapter’s Financial Secretary, as well as the McNeese NPHC Secretary.🕊

was founded on four distinct principles:
Scholarship, Service, Sisterhood, and, the one that sets Zeta Phi Beta apart from all
other Greek-lettered organizations, Finer Womanhood. Annually, from the last week in February and through March, Zeta women globally observe the principle of Finer Womanhood in varying ways, paying homage to our Five Founders.

Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated Lambda Gamma Chapter and Small Steps is celebrating National Women’s Month by donating feminine hygiene products to the schools bathrooms. Provide a donation today at the various donation boxes placed around campus! The donation boxes will be located in the SGA office located in the old Ranch and Mrs. Krisshun Youngblood’s office in BBC 404. Donations will begin on Monday, March 27th and end on Thursday, March 30th. Donations include pads, tampons, pantyliners, menstrual cups, and sanitary wipes.
