Great opportunity to learn about Foster Care and options to support in our area. - James 1:27
Shout out to the churches with response teams involved in CarePortal Florida . There are so many opportunities to get involved and help / do something right where you live. If your church wants to start a CarePortal team, please message us and we can get you going. It is incredibly easy and free to set one up, and you will be blessed and glad that you did.
Some days in child welfare are especially hard. We had one of those days yesterday with an influx of 15 children (3 sibling groups of 5 entering the system) needing placement in a day. The COMMUNITY in Community Based Care came through for these kids in a big way. From folks stepping up to say YES to placement, case management staff who supported the children through the trauma of removal, the placement team who helped identify and coordinate placements and Foster Florida Gainesville stepping in to support the caregivers with beds, pizza and the Village…ALL of this is what Community Based Care is about.
We need more COMMUNITY in child welfare. More families to step into the gap for kids by fostering. More villagers to support the work of Foster Florida. More support for CarePortal Florida who meets needs everyday. Partnership for Strong Families alone isn’t the answer to child welfare. We can do this with support from our COMMUNITY. If you see this and feel called to be a part of the solution, email [email protected] to learn more about becoming a foster or adoptive parent; connect with Foster Florida to become a part of the Village; and to connect your church with Care Portal where they can make a very impactful difference for children and families.
"...a mechanism to make that happen". Message or call us today to get things moving in your church. We would Love to share what CarePortal has done and can do right here in our area.
We are praying for everyone in the area at the prospect of the incoming hurricane Idalia. Our CarePortal network churches will be monitoring their area requests closely during this state of emergency and especially afterward. Please stay safe and reach out to us if you know of a child centered need that occurs as a result of the hurricane. We are here to help. - Isaiah 41:13

the Nest
Why a nest?
Nests are gathered and built from numerous places and a variety of materials. These materials are joined together perfectly for one purpose, the protection of the young placed inside. If we are to care for the orphans of today, it MUST be a community effort. It MUST be multiple people with multiple resources joining together with one purpose, to protect our young placed in the foster system.
Without a nest, the eggs would certainly be destroyed. When we surround the hurting children in our community, we are giving them a place of safety. A place of rest. A place to grow. We are providing the temporary protection they need during their crisis.
God commands us to care for the orphans. He said that when we do things for the “least of these”, we are doing it for Him. The need is so great and one person can not do it alone. We may not all be able to foster or adopt, but we can all do SOMETHING. That is the purpose of the Nest of Lake City. We exist to help those in the community join together and be an effective force in caring for it’s orphans. Let’s be a nest for our young.
