"I want to make all the Airbnb and short term rentals within Madison County aware of the potential misuse of their rentals. There are Individuals that take advantage of Airbnb and short term rental owners. These individuals use them for criminal activity. The Madison County Sheriffs Office has been investigating a group of individuals that rented an Airbnb in Madison County for that very purpose. The Madison County Sheriffs Office began an investigation into these individuals when a body was dumped in a rural area of our county. During the course of the investigation the Sheriffs Office encountered these individuals who routinely take advantage of short term rentals. The investigation is still on going and at this point the Madison County Sheriffs Office has recovered one stolen firearm, one stolen vehicle, seized an additional three fi****ms including an assault rifle, seized trafficking amounts of Fentanyl, He**in, and Methamphetamine, and several thousands of dollars have been seized.
