💭 Did you know that scar tissue is sensitive and more susceptible to damage from harmful UVA and UVB rays? Overexposure can cause changes to pigmentation in the skin, either darkening or lightening the scar. Due to the long maturation phase of scars, it is important to protect them for several months following injury or surgery.

To prevent heat-related injuries and stay productive during the hot months, remember to stay hydrated, take regular breaks in cool areas, and wear breathable clothing. Avoid overexertion and recognize the signs of heat exhaustion, such as dizziness, nausea and vomiting, and excessive sweating. If these symptoms occur, it is crucial to take a break from the heat and rehydrate in order to prevent a heat stroke.

Your well-being is crucial, so take the necessary precautions to stay safe and healthy in the summer heat! 🌞🌡️

🏃👏 National Senior Health and Fitness Day was May 29th this year. At Heritage of Hawk Ridge, they celebrated by focusing an entire day on healthy activities, fitness screenings, and presentations about various health and wellness topics. Mandy Wilmes PT, DPT, COMT, AIB-VRC gave a presentation about shoulder strength and posture for independence where she was able to discuss the importance that each of these factors play in keeping seniors active and healthy. 💪 They dove into research about why shoulder strength and posture are important to keep up with while we age. This was followed by her and Clinical Tech Mady demonstrating proper form!

👏 In June of 2024, Axes is excited to partner with Responder Rescue. Responder Rescue provides crucial aid to first responders facing physical, emotional, or financial challenges. This support ensures that those who protect the community receive the help they need when they need it most.
Responder Rescue provides many different kinds of support. They host various events and fundraisers to engage the community and raise awareness about the needs of first responders everywhere. They also offer financial assistance for things like medical bills, living expenses, and other urgent needs so these first responders are able to focus solely on their recovery without having to worry about financial burdens. Axes is proud to treat a great number of incredible first responders in the Greater St. Louis area. 🚒🚓
