Well guys, the time has come. Thank you so much to everyone who came out this weekend, you all made it a perfect end to a really great journey.
And thank you again to Kirt, for making this bar all of our homes for the last 23 years. You’ve been the conductor of this crazy train these last two decades and a lot of us would have been lost without you.
I’m going to miss you guys so freaking much, but the new owners and all the girls are going to take great care of you, and I’ll be back to drink soon, I promise.
With that, I’m going to turn the page over to its new admin knowing that we leave you in great hands.

An addendum to my post. I forgot to thank the one person who has been through all of this with me... Carol, my wife. From the very beginning of this journey, until now, she has been there. I know I couldn't have made this 23 year trip without her. For the support, the countless hours of bookkeeping, the endless encouragement, and everything else, I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Well here we are. Kirt may not be one for long goodbyes, but I think we all know that’s not true of me, so, strap in lol.

23 years ago we bought the Sloane Pub and I can honestly say my life has never been the same. Even before I could drink the Slub was a part of my everyday life. From having lunch with Kirt when he used to work days and I had a long lunch period, to playing kickball on the team right after I turned 18, to knowing all the old man regulars because they were my customers at Medic, to knowing the rest of the regulars because I popped in to drop things off so often. Before I was even legal to drink I met people that became a part of my life, and some that still are to this day. Then, 11 ½ years ago I jumped in feet first and became one of your full time bartenders, and it’s 100% true when I say it’s the best job I’ve ever had. I have met people here that are now my family. People I’ve known for years, and will continue to know past this transition as well. I’ve met my best friends here and because of Slub I met my soon to be husband. I am a changed person because of all of you.

Being your bartender for these past 12 years has been a privilege. I have watched some of you blossom so much. I have laughed myself to tears more times then I could ever count with you. I have talked some of you through your best and championed you through your worst. I have attended weddings, funerals, memorials and so much more. I’ve gotten to celebrate new jobs, engagements, pregnancies, first dates gone right (and drink about the ones that went wrong lol), birthdays (always with a Jello Shot cake), and holidays. I’ve talked for hours about the nerdy things I love with some of you, and debated about them for even longer some nights.

Being a part of the Sloane Pub Family has taught me so much, and there are so many people that I would have been lost without. To all the girls across the years that took the time to train me and make me the bartender I am, thank you. Marie, and Amanda, And The Ni(c )kkis, I would have been lost without you. Thank you for taking me under your wings and being the amazing badass women you are, I would be lost without you.

And Kirt. You took a big chance letting me join the crew all that time ago (and I know you didn’t want to lol), but you have been the best boss I have ever had. You have taught me so much, not only about the business itself, but about what a Good Boss actually looks like. The way you treat your staff with respect and understanding (though maybe a little bit of impatience 😉) and how much you have our backs is something I have never experienced in any job I have ever worked. The sheer effort you have put in to make Sloane a safe haven and exactly what it is today is nothing short of inspiring. 23 years is a number most bar owners don’t see, but you deserve it for everything you put in, not only to the bar itself but the girls as well. You have been not only a boss to your staff, but a friend, from being at their birthdays, to going to weddings, to even bailing a few of us out of jail (not me(yet lol)), you have been the conductor of this crazy train this whole time and we’d all have been lost without you.

The new owners are going to take great care of you guys, I know it, and I’ll be back to drink with you all soon. As Blonde Nicki is always ready to say; Here’s to good friends, tonight is kind of special.

Well... as the saying goes, all things must come to an end. And so it is with my ownership of the Sloane Pub. As of August 1st, the Sloane Pub will be under new management. The new owners have expressed a desire to keep it exactly as it is, so the outward changes should be minimal. The staff and their hours will remain basically the same, but for Madison. I will let her express her feelings in another post.

It has been a pleasure (most of the time ) to have had been your host for the past 23 years. I have met some of the most interesting and unique people in that time. I know not everyone has always been pleased with me, but believe you have always enjoyed the atmosphere I strived to create.

I have been blessed with having some of the best people in this industry work for me. Marie, Dark Nikki, Blonde Nicki, and of course Amanda and Madison, without whom I never would have made it this far. I also want to mention our 2 new additions Kayliegh and Kerrie, who I think will be with us for a long time.

I have never been one for long goodbyes, so I'll leave you with this. Owning a bar was the last thing on my radar, but you people...all of you, have made this a life changing experience. Thank you, and goodbye.

Hello Lovelies! I wanted to pop on here today to say a few things because today is Sloane Pubs 23rd anniversary (on April Fool’s of all day, how apropos lol).
I’ve had the extreme honor of being able to serve you all and be a part of the Sloane Pub team for the last 11 years (and been behind the scenes even longer lol). I’m so thankful to have been able to work with so many amazing people in that time period, and to have such a good crew now.
To all the Slubbers (some that have been with us the whole 23 years) thank you for being a part of our funky little family all this time, I know it sounds corny but it’s true: You’re why we do this. The turnover employee-wise at Sloane has always been low, and you’re one of the reasons. Maybe I’m biased but I think we have one of the best groups of regulars out there.
Lastly, to Kirt; congratulations and thank you. 23 years is a hell of an accomplishment, one some people in this industry could only dream of. You have been an astounding owner, and have set the bar as far as bosses go. I have never worked for anyone that has had their staffs back more, and put as much effort into the day to day runnings of their business, and I doubt I ever will. You are the reason the Sloane is the way it is, and I know I do not speak for myself when I say we would be lost without you.
So Happy Anniversary Sloane Pub. As Nicki loved to say; Here’s to good friends, tonight is kind of special. ❤️
