Updated to add kempner mayor made a post today stating all drivers who violated passing a buss or tailgating them will be pulled over in or out of city limits!! And I am so grateful he has done something to help with the issue especially since my sisters and I once rode the bus rout that dropped off on the shoulder of 190!
I’ve seen far too many posts and encounters in person of reckless drivers not stoping or even slowing down for the school bus!!!
You are legally obligated to stop unless there is a physical barrier between lanes such as a median or wall!!! This means on 190 going to lampasas or to kempner you have to stop regardless of the lane you are driving in!!!
Innocent lives are occupying these school buses! It’s only a matter of time before there’s a horrible headline of an accident caused by someone who didn’t stop for them!

Hello everyone! Katlynn Bull (my little sister who has helped with pet sitting clients the past 3 years) officially leaves for Tarleton State University in 2 days (move in date is Monday August 12th)!!! And she is still needing the basics essentials for her dorm room such as cleaning supplies and food to keep in her dorm since her meal plan will not allow her to eat at the dining hall 3 times 7 days a week!
We are all so incredibly grateful for everyone who has sent her gifts and money thus far and will be sending out the proper thank you cards once she is settled into her dorm but she could really use some extra help getting the things we all happened to overlook when buying stuff for her dorm!!!
Katlynn is on the Tarleton Color guard team so that will leave her with even less down time then a regular full time student to go buy these things herself after she has settled in because band camp will start the day of her move in!!!
I have made an Amazon wishlist for her and the address to send it to will be her college address, you are more then welcome to send things from other places as well not just limited to amazon if you can find it for a better deal else where!!!

Central Texas is in extreme heat advisory this week!!
This is one of the very few things I will not be kind about as an animal advocate! It is against the law to leave an animal outside during extreme heat without access to a cool area!! I highly encourage you to call and report if you suspect a pet is being left outside without the proper protections from this heat! It is much better for your call to be a false alarm then it would be to sit and watch an animal slowly suffer from a heat stroke!!
If you can not comfortably walk outside right now and sit in the shade for 30 minutes but expect your pets to be able to that is animal abuse.

There is a question that we get daily, Is this shelter no-kill?
Let’s break that question down. What is no kill by definition? A shelter that does not kill healthy or treatable animals based on time limits or capacity. Another definition is finding placement for 90% of animals in our care.
So in basic terms yes, we have been no-kill since the end of 2023 but what does that truly mean? We are currently at 95% live release.
No kill to us isn’t a number or percentage. Every animal deserves to live their one life but how can we ensure that? For a shelter to be No Kill AND maintain that, we have to have the community’s support. We have to have fosters, volunteers, donors, adopters, and most importantly a community of responsible owners. This status cannot be reached and maintained by the shelter staff alone and that responsibility shouldn’t be placed on the shelter staff’s shoulders. Life-saving starts and ends in the community, not within the shelter walls. Staff can do everything they can do but without the community fostering, adopting, volunteering, or donating; staff is between a rock and a hard place. If animals aren’t leaving the shelter through foster, reclaims, and adoptions but more animals keep coming in, we are stuck with hard decisions.
So when you call a shelter and ask “Are you a no-kill shelter”, maybe ask “How can I help you maintain a no-kill status?” If we can change the community’s mindset to see that animal sheltering is a community project and not place the responsibility and blame on the staff, we can save more lives. Join us in this work. We want to be the best little shelter in Texas!! Do we have your support?
Foster to make space for others in the shelter. Volunteer to help staff with the day-to-day operations. Donate to allow for more programs to help our community. Adopt to save lives. Be responsible owners by spaying/neutering, reclaiming your pets, and rehoming outside of the shelter.
Together we can do this, alone we are destined to fail. No kill belongs to the community, not the shelter and staff!
Pictured is one of our amazing volunteers. She is fostering a mom and kittens!!
I found this absolutely cutie at the Valero in kempner, the one with moms burgers, I asked the owner if they knew it was out here and he said he called the animal shelter but no one had been buy to get it, unfortunately I can’t take it home with me because I already have 5 cats and the boyfriend said we can get anymore 🥺 but it was absolutely so sweet just wanted so many pets, I bought it some wet food and it is chowing down on it outside the door, poor thing in covered in fleas but I’m hoping someone who’s been looking for a kitten sees this and goes to pick it up 🐱
Spring ho fireworks show is July 10th at 9pm!! Make sure your animals are secure!!!!
This does not only apply to dogs green algae can kill almost all animals and cause serious illness to humans as well! Just like in this awful case it acts very quickly!! Do research about the bodies of water you plan on swimming in this summer! If you suspect green algae avoid it completely!! Rest in peace Arya 🤍

For PET OWNERS that take their dogs to lakes and creeks, please read this warning from Morgan & Patrick Fleming.
This morning we thought, it’s so hot! Let’s go to the lake! We took our sweet Arya to the lake and had the best day playing ball and swimming around! About 30 minutes later on the drive home, we noticed her making weird noises and she threw up and pooped in the car. We called our vet on the drive and they suggested we take her in. By this point our girl couldn’t even stand. They told us she was in critical condition so we took her to the ER. By the time we got there, she was brain dead. Today was absolutely awful. We lost our fun, loving, and crazy girl to what we can only assume was a lake toxin such as blue green algae. Arya, no dog will ever replace you in our hearts. We already miss you more than you could know. I hope you’re running around like a wild girl with all the other boarder collies in doggo heaven ♥️
This is the exact reason I will work with a client on pricing rather then have them find someone who offers cheaper care!
Cheap prices = Cheap service!!!
Rover is a horrible service to use for pet sitting! Anyone can offer services on the app and for the good quality sitters who use it rover takes over 50% of the money earned from each booking resulting in those sitters having to have unreasonable prices!!
Do your research, ask for reliable references, look at reviews and meet with them before the booked sitting! My heart goes out to these fur babies and their parents I couldn’t possibly imagine what they are going through and I hope no one else ever had to lose a fur baby to a situation like this!
Pet sitter under investigation after 3 dogs die of heat stroke under her care The dogs who died were among seven who suffered heat stroke after being placed inside the pet sitter’s shed. The owner told police the air conditioning went out.
Hello everybody! I’ve gained a lot of new followers since the last time I made an updated about me post so here it is! Please feel free to save this photo as well and send it to others as a reference!!!
This is a not so friendly reminder that your dog should not be stuffing in this summer heat! I encourage everyone to please bring your fur babies in if you find yourself wanting to return to your nice air conditioned home after being outside for 5 minutes to bring in your dogs as well!!!
We are now approaching the peak of the summer heat!! Please save this photo or write this in your notes in case of an emergency!!!
STOP putting it on the back burner!!!! Update your pets tags!!
If you wouldn’t willingly walk on the road and pavement when it’s hot outside your dog shouldn’t have to either!!
