Alumni, Mel Winters, is a graduate from the HVAC/R and Mechanical Engineering Technology program. He was recently one of eight employers in the entire Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to receive the 2024 Governor's Employer Award for Achievement, which honors employers who are supporting workforce development. Today is a big day for EMU at the Lancaster campus as we have relocated to a state-of-the-art building (Listrak Building) in Lititz, PA. This move marks a new chapter in our journey. We will open for business at our new location on July 1.

Last night, students from kindergarten through high school in the Ephrata Area School District attended the ESL Family Picnic and Resource Fair. Heidi Wenger, an English Language Development Teacher at Fulton Elementary School and an EMU alumna, organized the event. The Aviation STEM Summer Camp and CNA training program generated the most interest. Families who attended spoke various languages, including Arabic, Dari, Haitian Creole, Pashto, Russian, Somali, Spanish, Swahili, and Ukrainian.

EMU at Lancaster is currently looking for a Recruitment & Enrollment Specialist! The primary responsibility of this role is to recruit new and returning students for EMU Lancaster by identifying, qualifying, and cultivating prospective students. This will involve generating leads, recording contact information, and participating in lead-generating activities such as fairs, conferences, and other recruiting events where there is potential to meet prospective adult students. The Recruitment & Enrollment Specialist will also conduct staff and off-site recruitment events to create awareness and interest in EMU Lancaster’s degree programs. This is a full-time position. Nadia Camblin, a high school senior from Bloomsburg, PA, recently soloed at Bloomsburg Airport. Nadia has been accepted in Eastern Mennonite University's (EMU) aviation program in Lititz, PA, and she plans to begin her collegiate aviation experience with us this August.

On April 4th, second-year aviation students from Eastern Mennonite University (EMU) at Lancaster toured the American Helicopter Museum and Education Center at Brandywine Airport in West Chester, PA. This trip was part of their Aerodynamics and Performance course. Although EMU students earn the professional credentials to begin careers as professional airplane pilots––not helicopter pilots––this tour is part of their well-rounded education in aviation.

On March 14th, first-year aviation students from Eastern Mennonite University (EMU) at Lancaster toured the Lycoming Engines plant in Williamsport, PA. This was part of their Aircraft Systems course, taught by Dr. David Hartmann. Lycoming is the world's premier manufacturer of piston aircraft engines.

We are leaping for joy as we welcomed local high school students who joined today's inaugural Aviation Career Fair, FlightPath, hosted by the Lancaster Airport Authority. These students interacted with aviation professionals from diverse fields, including pilots, engineers, mechanics, and air traffic controllers. The event offered engaging activities like flight simulations, drones, and informative workshops to explore different career opportunities within the aviation field.
